2 useless tanki features i think no one uses

Recommended Posts

1. minimap. this feature was added when the html 5 client was added.  There are prolly two reasons it is underused. first of all, it highlights enemies in a very small radius. secondly, it was not in flash, and so many returning players wouldn't use it.

TBH i don't know why this was even added... seems trash

2. look around feature (idk wut to call it)

-default keybinds, mouse control on

right click allows you to look around without moving your turret.

srsly, devs, why does this even exist? just turn your turret around...

second one is practically useless, but I think the minimap could be improved?

take gta online, the minimap is so important in that game. if this could be worked on, and have a slightly better placement (top left), made slightly larger, showed the buildings, it could be able to bring balance changes, etc... like off the radar or sth

heck, i don't even think half the tankers that see this in every battle even know its there XD

I don't know about you, but I use the radar ALL the time. It's extremely useful for maps like Industrial Zone or any maps with tunnels, because you can see enemies coming your way (from any direction) without actually seeing them, allowing you to prepare. It takes some getting used to, but gives a massive advantage once you remember to look at it. I don't think it needs much improvement, besides perhaps showing flag/ball icons.

I forget we even have radar most battles...

It's almost exclusively for photoshoots. Or maybe some very rare scenario where you want to be shooting forward while looking back? I don't know lol.

Well Radar is useful sometimes for example at XP/BP at Cross map when people are staying behind the walls/Houses i can see them from radar so i dont find that useless.

This is slightly triggering, as I used to use both pretty much always. lol

The radar is very useful for locating enemies behind houses etc. you can't see, normally. It's actually overpowered, in my opinion. It's giving you a HUGE advantage.

And the look around feature is like the MOST overpowered thing for mouse controls. The better question is - why wouldn't you use it? You can always look around 360° (which you can't that easily on keyboard controls), getting your information gathering to the next level. Knowing where your enemies are at any point in the battle is also giving you an enormous advantage!

I think @die3458 is specifically talking about the ability to spin your camera without turning your turret (by holding right click). This doesn't really have gameplay application and was mostly added for people wanting to take "selfies".

The second feature holds massive applications for mouse control players playing in format battles, it gives anyone doing it a massive advantage over someone who's playing on keyboard. Just watch a mouse control highlights video, such as this one by EXP:

Same, it is especially useful on small XP/BP maps and somewhat allows keyboard players to compete

Right-click allows me to hide my laser when using Shaft while being able to scan the range of my scopesight more. Also, I like using right-click to check my surroundings without having to turn my turret; I can keep my turret aimed at one direction, if I think I'll have to empty ammo, or I use it to show unawareness to enemies and instantly backfire when they don't notice it. Both scenarios are situational, but it does help me out quite a bit.

To add, why are you even bothered by this feature? Some players including me find it helpful and it does not directly affect gameplay as it is not a gamebreaking feature. Just let players use right-click if they want to, no need to make a point about it

This is actually super useful when you're in scope mode with Shaft. You can easily see someone creeping up behind you if you pay attention.

But otherwise, i agree with ya. It's kinda underused when you're using another turret besides Shaft.

If you are a flash player and unable to adapt to new features added then it is your personal problem and not the game.

I would agree updating minimap to show outline of terrain/drop zones would be very neat. If radius got increased more it could get clunky or simply broken.

Exactly what I was talking about. I used to use it constantly in each battle. Having to turn your turret backwards to look behind you is disadvantageous, since no one might be there, and then you can get shot from the front without knowing/seeing, you first have to turn the turret back. With mouse's right click on the other hand, you hit right click, look quickly behind you - if there is nobody you're instantly ready to engage in front of you, since you don't have to turn the turret back. It saves you important seconds!

I wish they added a quick perspective toggle feature like what Minecraft has with its F5 key (by default). Just a key that you press (or press and hold), and it changes your camera to look backwards while you move forward. I use it all the time in PvP games.

I think Mouse is harder than Keyboard for one reason, the sync between turret's speed and camera view is a horrible. Guys please don't discuss about Mouse controls if you're a Hovering Hulls user, Mouse controls with any other hull is a horrible.

Ooh nice, I think we should see a 1v1 with a skilled keyboard player vs skilled mouse player to see if this difference will affect and make the Mouse player win.

I think we just see a Railgun-Wasp, so this player got a really accustomed with the horrible sync between camera view and Railgun, so it's easy for him. but if he use a versatile turrets and changing between them continuously, he will get a slap by the sync between camera view and the turret, because every turret have a different rotation speed. And what we all see in the video is just a footages not a real gameplay.

For any player who played 2 years or more before HTML5, for sure he should be a fan for FLASH. HTML5 is a new thing to us, and strangely started with a new features that are very new to us, I hardly get accustomed with the number of kills/flags get shifted from right corner to the middle upper in the screen, and you want me to get accustomed with Minimap also!

And with the glitches in HTML5 and poor Pro-battles and weird physics and boring grey color, that all make me say the Flash biased is a normal thing for any sane human and maybe I will go further to doubt about the mental health of who prefers HTML5 over Flash.

The sync isn't a problem at all. If the camera turned as fast as the turret does - it would render mouse completely useless. Sniping with Shaft on Flash with mouse controls was horrific in my opinion (not sure if it's any different on the HTML version), since you were limited by Shaft's turning speed. I prefer looking around as quick as I want, without any limitations

And by the way, if you master Railgun on mouse controls, you also master each other turret with mouse, automatically ?

WOW! That is a feature I did not know about.

I like to check my rear view when I play racing games LOL

I use both of these features all the time. The minimap is very useful as a "rear view mirror," especially for players who play without sound or having hearing impairments. I've won many a 1v1 engagement because I was able to tell exactly when an enemy moved out of cover on the minimap. Being able to move the camera independently of the turret is also very useful when moving backwards and simultaneously firing at an enemy in front, or when checking peripherals while using a turret with slow rotation speed.

In my opinion ignoring both of these features puts you at a disadvantage.

Yes, absolutely. Would also add a bit more complexity to the controls, I'd welcome that ?

I played for about 7 years and it took me like 2 weeks to fully adapt. Writing your personal opinion and insulting anyone who disagrees doesn't prove anything. The old times just aren't coming back and you have to deal with it.

I don't mean to insult, how do you want me to say my opinion?

Ok guys everyone have an opinion and every opinion should be respected and my opinion about Flash that just represent me and doesn't necessarily represent any other one in the world that Flash is maybe in my opinion is superior than HTML5 but but this thing just represent its writer "me" and there is no one in the world who is supposed to agree and we should accept everyone's other opinions to live with each other in a peace and in one piece

and now after my introduction I want to say my opinion about Flash that everything I said in introduction applies to it

and my opinion in Flash is........
