why do dead tanks still retain their hitboxes for a second or two

this will prolly turn into a rant

so i recently dumped my crystals into cyclone...

and i am starting to understand why striker sucks at CQC

so i get somewhat close to a tank, and dump my full 8 missles into them.

then they die after like 4 hits...

but then the missles hit them, and i end up splashing myself and killing my self...

why?

they should just turn into mesh and dont have collision once their dead, at least for bullets...

This mechanic has been in the game since the beginnings and it can be useful to block enemies.

You shouldn't target a single tank with your 8 rockets of cyclone. Use one rocket for single tanks and cyclone for a group of tanks or a big tank. But if you do, after the target is dead you can try to tilt your tank and try hitting other nearby enemies with the rest of the rockets.

Well, with DA (and Defender) and protection modules, why not?  Can be quite hard to kill some tanks.  Go big or stay home.

I remember back in 2012 there were guides telling you how to take advantage of this. Back then with the old physics engine it was basically impossible to move a dead tank (or any tank), so by following your flag carrying teammate out of the base and getting killed in a tight exit, you can quite effectively block the way of pursuers. The fact that dead tanks would stay on the ground for a good 5 seconds also helped (though I have no idea how we used to cope with the 15 second respawn time lol).

I get what you mean though. I think these days I would prefer if tanks lost their hitboxes the instant they die, because so many times I try to get a shot off and it would hit a teammate's corpse. Even worse when the corpse is disappearing and already 99% transparent, but still has its full hitbox.

Dead tank vanishes too quickly, sad.

Dead tank is not a problem for Railgun, so ... :D

But nobody address the elephant in the room!! Fix the bloody roofs hitboxes!!

With the extra missiles that you have available for current use:

  • you can aim your tank to another tank(s) and possibly destroy more of them
    • I do this after I'm done destroying the Juggernaut
    • tanks in a group, or nearby one another
  • This makes the Cyclone Augment one of my favorites.

But if you get tired of using it, you can try using Uranium or the Missile Launcher Hunter Augment. I use those often too!

Cyclone mainly used during JGR mode or gold festive mode.

on normal battle, stock or 2 heavy rocket mode is more than enough to destroy most tank on DD or with boost drone.
