sheild thing?

what is the sheild icon above a tank that is  tan coloured looks like is shaterd or scaled and usualy ends up im me dying when i see it?

 AP — armor-pierced, a tank loses its armor received from modules, supplies, and other sources (e.g. after Hornet’s OD)

That icon indicates extra armour, and is usually present on players using Defender or Crisis.

Hello @LEROYLEMMING!

Are you talking about a purple shield that looks split in half? That means you have the armor piercing status effect, which means, all your defenses are useless.

After a Hornet activates it's Overdrive, it will apply the Armor-piercing status effect to all visible tanks for it, and if you happen to be visible, you will get the AP status effect.

You might be one-shot killed, because you have no more defenses.

Hello, as @ThirdOnion mentioned above, the additional armor icon is usually present on player using Crisis or Defender.
 
More info - Crisis :
An experimental drone with the ability to significantly increase the effect of one supply while disabling others. When you activate double damage, double armor, or speed boost (or pick up a supply box), this drone switches the supply into an improved mode, while disabling and recharging the other two supplies.

Defender: 
After activating Double Armor increases the effect for a short time.
