I have played chess a lot nowdays i don't play it very often, never been realy good but I enjoy it a lot.

I used to play a lot and then stopped playing actively for a while. Since last month or so I’ve started to play actively again and practicing the Dutch defense rn.

I don't play chess that often, and I think I'm only decent (at best) at it, but I still have fun when I play.

A couple weeks ago I downloaded a chess app on my phone so I could play more often and get more practice, but I have hardly used it lol.

It's actually called "Tower" in other languages lol.

I just knew it as "Rook" cause that's the English name for it lol.

XD, my mom taught me to never do that.

In her opinion, it "traps" the King by making him closer to the corner.

lmao most of my games I castle, very useful imo except maybe when there’s too much pressure on the kingside in the opening itself.

damn interesting, also why is it a tower lmao do towers even walk

I did my research, and it turns out the Rook symbolized a "Chariot" (Don't asky me why lol)

It kinda makes sense though considering the Rook in chess travels in a straight line, like how a Chariot can charge straight into enemy battalions in a battle.

also why is the horse out of place with the rest of the pieces

The horse is actually called the "Knight" lol. So I'm guessing it symbolizes the horses that Knights tend to ride.

And yes, I do agree the horse being used is out of place lol. In my opinion, they should've used a knight's helmet or something.

I guess the reason why Rooks look like Castles and Knights look like Horses is because it just makes the pieces contrast each other so players won't get confused over which is which.

why are the pieces white and black that is really offensive on modern times i think we should cancel chess immediatly #chessisoverparty

LOL, this is actually something me and my brother joke about a lot. It's kinda racist when you know the official rules dictate that the team that always goes first and starts off the match is the white side.

Luckily, in recent years, there have been chess piece sets that have strayed away from the black and white thing.....

Many of them now use something like glass, and it becomes a "transparent team vs translucent team", as shown below:

Ahh. I guess I don't do it too often cause i tend to utilize my Rooks early-game by moving them up after I move the Pawns above them.

Spoiler

Not gonna lie though, no one I ever met castles except maybe this one kid back when I was in middle school lol.......and the computer AI on my mom's old Windows 7.

I rarely play Chess, when I play it with my friends (who are noobs) I just play in attacking role and from my first moves I go in the middle of their place with my Queen and wreck them all.

But when I played it online with experienced players, I realized how I'm a truly noob?

LOL, it's always the friends who happen to be the noobs XD. My classmates way back then were noobs too :,)

XD, I tend to lose when I'm playing online with a stranger, mainly because I don't really care about the game as much compared to when I'm playing with a friend or family member, thus when I play online against strangers, I don't think as hard as I normally do.

For both white and black, I usually start by moving the pawns in front of my King, Queen, and Rooks forward.
Then if my opponent doesn't show any signs of attacking, I move the pawns in front of my Knights forward to give my Bishops some place to move or escape in case I need them.
Usually, when I'm black, I play a bit more defensively and I cover my Queen with one or two Bishops.

would great to see a knight's helmet or like a sword

I think the knight's helmet is better than the sword, mainly cause it looks more humanoid, like the Queen, King, Bishop, and Pawn pieces XD

Just now, Adriel.RB said:

im getting confused over which is the queen and the king lol

I remember which is which simply by this:

  • They are both the biggest pieces on the board.
  • The King is the one with some sort of cross on his head lol.
Just now, Adriel.RB said:

oh god you even made things worse lmaooo

just dont let twitter know about the rules and we'll be alright sadly they will find a way

thats pretty good that they got transparent pieces but i prefer to stay with the colored ones to make some drama lol thats what the internet its all about now

LOL
Yeah the colored ones are also easier to differentiate in a game XD
Oh yeah, the Queen is much, much, much, much, much more stronger and OP compared to the King. She's basically the Rook and Bishop combined.
So...... #FemaleEmpowerment ? XD

Just now, Adriel.RB said:

also i used to have that exact set of chess im not kidding ?

Haha, my middle school teacher had it too and he'd let us play with it during end-of-year exams.
