The Armor-Piercing effect should be given a new name

Armor-Piercing makes no sense at all....well, for Tanki at least, the "Armor-Piercing" name given to the status effect that disables the enemies' Protection Modules and Double Armor make no sense at all....

Why? Because in real life, if you have an armor piercing gun and you shoot someone's bullet-proof vest, it doesn't magically make the vest disappear or phase out for 5 seconds, and when it wears off, the vest is back and can block bullets again.

In real life, an Armor Piercing gun always penetrates whatever armor it was meant to pierce through, no matter what, as the effect will affect the Ammunition of the gun, not the Armor of the target.

Basically, the term "Armor Piercing" is supposed to be for guns/objects that ALWAYS pierce through armor, not inflict an effect that disables armor.

Also, in real life, if a armor piercing gun shoots someone through a bulletproof vest, other shooters using non-armor-piercing guns normally don't get the chance to also bypass the bulletproof vest. Only the original armor-piercing gun will get to pierce armor. No one else can unless they too have an armor-piercing gun.

So, I believe we should rename this effect in Tanki.....

Here are some of my suggestions:

  • Armor Debuff
    • It basically means to remove the buffs given from armor, such as double armor.
  • Armor Remover
    • Same as above, but it sounds dumber in a Tank game.
  • Defense Debuff
    • Same as above, but it sounds dumber in a high-tech Tank game.
  • Defense Remover
    • Same as above, but it sounds very dumb.
  • Armor Destroyer
    • Mainly because in the game, when you inflict AP on an enemy, the text reads "Armor Is Destroyed".
  • Embrittlement
    • I like this one the most.
    • It sounds more similar in style to other status effects in the game, such as "Burning, Freezing, Stunning".
    • In real life, Embrittlement affects the armor and makes it weaker (more brittle), which is very similar to what the Armor Piercing effect does in Tanki.
    • In real life, the embrittlement effects on metals can be reversed, similar to how Tanki's Armor Piercing Effect eventually wears off.

Overall, if we were to add "Armor Piercing" to Tanki, it should be used as a Turret or Alteration that can always pierce through the enemies' armor, no matter what, as the nature of "Armor Piercing" affects gun ammo. And when it pierces through tank armor, it doesn't leave behind an "effect" that allows other tanks that normally don't have armor-piercing to suddenly armor-pierce.

Not gonna lie, it would be cool to have a unique turret that can bypass armor but I fear this would be too overpowered, so no please, at least for now.

Armor debuff sounds good

I agree. It's also the most straightforward one lol

Spoiler

I also want the EMP effect to be renamed to "Supplies Debuff", since well.....in real life, Electromagnetic Pulses STUN electric devices and render them incapable of use.......but, I guess that's another topic for another time lol.

So you suggest to make the AP turret piercing the armor always ?

No, that would be too Overpowered lol......

I'm just suggesting that the developers should rename the effect and give it a name that makes more sense, because armor-piercing in real life doesn't magically allow all things, even non-armor piercing projectiles, to bypass armor (which, in Tanki, if someone inflicts armor-piercing on the enemy, than all teammates will bypass the armor for some reason, even newbies who have weak turrets and such XD).

I think Armor Piercing sounds nice and correct already!

To pierce into the armor means- to penetrate, to go into, or through it.

This means turrets can use this Augment to penetrate and do regular damage to enemies.

The AP (Armor Piercing) Immunity Hull Augments block this effect.

Saying the abbreviation of this Augment is cool too!

"AP" (Like Advanced Placement) (But in Tanki, it's Armor Pierce).
