"Multing" in DM special modes to complete special missions

 Share

Question

I just wanted to ask yet another question about game rules.

I know it is against the game rules to "mult", or to not participate in the battle in terms of not helping your team (or even helping the enemy team), in team modes, however what about in solo modes, where you have no team such the special DM modes?

We often now have special missions to use a certain number of supplies which reward shards, as well as special DM/Solo Jug modes with increased gold box drops.

Now I already asked if you are allowed to sit around in DM mode and just wait for golds, with a score of 0/15, not killing anyone. And I was told that this IS allowed, since it is a solo mode where you are not hurting your team, and the objective of those special DM modes is really to get the golds.

But what about if you are going into the special DM modes and self destructing say 30 times in a battle just to use 99 speed boosts as fast as possible to complete a special mission, and not killing anyone, with a final score of 0/30. Is that allowed or against game rules? I see a lot of people doing this, technically you aren't hurting anyone since it is a solo mode although you aren't participating in the battle. So is that allowed or not? Many thanks if you can confirm.

Oh okay, so basically if you use a bug and don't report it, you're banned.

Reporting the bug isn't something you must do, even though it would be nice of you to report it. But if you find a new bug which gives you some sort of an advantage, it's always better to avoid using it and wait for the developers to fix it.

As for the original question, as long as you do not ruin the game for others (i.e multing in team battles etc.), there is nothing wrong with multing in DM mode.

Since the original question has been answered, I will close the topic now. Feel free to make a new topic in this section if you have any more questions (you can also send me a PM if you want)

Since no one is directly hurt by this....it is not "multing". (Unless someone else also wanted to get last place in a DM battle lol)

Spoiler

"Multing" is more like.....breaking the rules of the gamemode.

So in team battles, you would "mult" by blocking your team's flag carriers, ball carriers, blocking your team's shots, not killing enemies, stuff like that.

Rather, it is something called an "exploit", where you take advantage of unconventional game mechanics to finish your goals.

A common "exploit" is using Heat Immunity to block Vulcan's self-destructive overheat.

Exploits are not intended by developers, but you won't get in trouble for committing them, as it is a fault in the game mechanics, not you.

Edit: Nevermind! Turns out, @Spy told me you can get banned in Tanki if you exploit bugs. I'm pretty sure the self-destructing in DM just to farm supplies for missions isn't a real bug though, so it's probably alright to do it.....?

OK thanks, well I hope that is true :) . Although, I would like confirmation from a mod to be sure - as while you are not harming any teammates, you are not contributing to the "game experience" of the match playing like that - although then again, really neither is someone who is sitting around waiting for golds to drop in an increased golds match. So it does seem a little dodgy, but probably not technically against the game rules - so I'll await official confirmation.

This is correct.

But this part is not accurate - You can get banned if you exploit bugs.

Oh geez, I never knew that!

It's just, other games I played don't ban people for using bugs to their advantage.

I always though game devs banned people for hacks, not using bugs lol.

Spoiler

So when Heat Immunity blocks Vulcan's overheat, was that a bug?

Spoiler

And when the devs saw they could make money off it, they decided to turn it into an intended feature?

If you come across a bug and use it for your favor once, you won't get banned. However, if you keep using this bug over and over you will get banned for it.

As for Immunity blocking Vulcan's overheat, that's not a bug, that's how heat immunity works.
