Why do hulls and turrets on level 1 look like maxxed out?

 Share

Question

Hi,

I'm old Tanki player (I'm playing since 2014/2015) and I have wanted to try to play the game again, but I'm confused. Why my M4 turret (originally M1) look like maxxed out? And why do these new levitating hulls look like they are maxxed out? Because nowdays it doesn't make sense to me, because once it was very big flex (in 2016 for me - I had maxxed out thunder with viking) to have that "blue light" on your hull and have many cool armor plates on it. Nowdays low levels have this cool look and I don't think this is good, because it doesn't give you that good feel that you've got something cool after playing it for so long. Everything in my garage looks maxxed out, but why? Because I had maxxed out only thunder, viking and isida (on M7).

Please someone explain :/ Is is because they will add new HD textures, so they have put these maxxed out on every hull and turret? Or is it a bug for me?

Have a nice day, Peter :)

Hey, welcome back :)

The reason for changing the skins is actually quite simple. Developers want to make the game more visually appealing, and the first step is updating all tank models to a new look — one that has more polygons, smoother angles, and better details. They're calling them HD skins, and perhaps you've noticed that a few of those already got released for old turrets and hulls. Each of those skins takes a lot more time to produce compared to the older basic skins, and there used to be more than 100 of those skins, when you count every single modification of every turret and hull. Making them all HD and giving them away for free would be a huge waste of resources.

Therefore instead developers decided to reduce the number of default skins to just one per turret/hull, reducing the number of HD skins from >100 down to around 40. Since each HD skin takes days/weeks to make, it makes the process more efficient and cost-effective. As a result, all modifications now look the same, but you also have the option to equip XT and other cosmetic skins if you have them.

I recommend you check out this topic for a concise list of major updates you've missed.

Ok, so the developer are planning to change the skin of the turrets, mainly to HD. If there are separate HD skin per different M#, it's going to take really long time. BTW, the modification system had been revamped to Mk (or Mark) system. Meaning M4 equips would be equivalent to current Mk8.

Same, i was so proud when I could get my first M3 (mk7) and finally had that blue lights on it. That was a huge "advantage" of the old system, since now all modifications look the same, it's not special anymore..

I wanted to say Mk4. I haven't noticed that now it is Mk not M :D
