Purchasable Ammunition

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow tankers,

I have a brilliant idea to help monetise the game, which I am sure many of you might agree on.

Now, from the beginning of Tanki, tankers have got used to having free ammunition. But, in real life, ammo is not free right? It costs quite a bit to produce - war is expensive. And as we know in Tanki - things which were previously free are starting to cost too (such as protection module slots), so it is quite obvious that ammunition is another prime candidate for monetisation.

The format could look something like this:

You get a certain amount of Ammo from daily missions: 400/800/1,200 respectively (at Legend) to give a total of 2,400 rounds per day from completing all dailies. You also get a certain number of rounds from weekly containers  - increasing with rank, lets say 1,000 from each at Legend.

If you get SUPER lucky, you can also get rounds packs from containers, say 400/1,000/2,500/10,000 at Common/Uncommon/Rare/Epic rarities respectively. This would also work brilliantly, as it would be another way to dilute container rewards.

As for other ways to earn rounds - well just to keep them rare, they can only be purchased with tankoins (besides from containers) - with packs starting from perhaps 2,500 rounds for 100 tankoins, up to maybe 350,000 rounds for 8,000 tankoins.

If free-to-play players happen to run out of ammo - well too bad, that's what you get for being F2P. You need to wait until you get another shard container, and if you get lucky you might get an ammo pack - with which you can hopefully complete some dailies.

Now it goes without saying that certain turrets (such as Vulcan), would obviously use more ammunition per second than others - so these turrets would now be effectively buyer-only, but this would help differentiate between F2P and buyers - F2P players have been able to use most equipment easily for far too long anyway, as I'm sure you'll agree. Something like High Precision Aiming System augment for Smoky would be a suitable augment and turret for F2P tankers - a slow rate of fire and low ammunition consumption, just perfect for economical use.

So what do you guys think? Actually, I know this idea has almost certainly already been suggested among the devs - just thought I'd speed the implementation process along. Great way to monetise the game, exciting new container rewards, and another way to differentiate between F2P and buyers to give more incentive to buy - plus previously free features successfully monetised. Many boxes ticked! Leave your comments, and if you can suggest any improvements - feel free.

Why do i feel that you are sarcastic? ?

I have an even better idea: in real life when you replace your tank with  a new tank that is different from the current one from any ways, that needs to be delivered there, right? So make it that we can have 3 equipment change from dailies, you can get 5/50/100 from conts, and you can buy them for tankoins. Also, at this point we can delete crystals too.

Status changed to Declined

The last thing we need right now is another "pay to win" update, the reasons for declining this idea are obvious.

World of Tanks has limited ammo.

Every time you wanna shoot, you'll have to pay the equivalent of 100 crystals to fire a round.

Oh, so we're not allowed to post ideas about increasing prices then?

You are, but you need a valid reason for that.

OK, the trolling has went on long enough :P

Well done to all those who realised, yes indeed this was an ironic post. This was a considered troll, as I wanted to draw further attention to just how ridiculous Tanki's latest update is - giving players items which were previously free (second and third protection modules, and protection modules in general) now for a fee of not only crystals, but hard-to-acquire Tankoins. And giving something as fundamental as a fourth protection module (which would have been added in the past for free if they felt there was a need for balance purposes - such as now that we have MM games up to 14v14 and so many turrets), available effectively to buyers only handing them a large advantage in all situations. This kind of suggestion is not far from the actual thinking of the Tanki devs, when it came to making this most recent update - and it probably won't be the last update of this nature, if this is the way they are thinking.

They have now taken away free modules from new players, and charged for it, and according to the V-Log from last week they even plan to take away full power-supplies from players unless they have a 20/20 upgraded drone (and we all know which players will have 20/20 drones at low rank, and many 20/20 drones at high rank without being a very high-ranking Legend). No feature of the game, no matter how long established, now seems from being changed for the sake of yet more pay-to-win advantage, and the end result will be a game which it is simply not worth playing as a free-to-play player. It will be an insult and a waste of time for anyone not able/intent on buying to spend their time on this game, if Tanki continues to take the direction the developers seem intent on sending it.

The update I proposed here is not far from what we already have seen with today's update, and indeed probably not far from the kind of update we will see in the future - a sad reality for the future of Tanki. One that makes many F2P or low-end buyers surely question whether they should even continue playing at all.

If only the developers had to suggest their proposed updates to Spy, for him to accept or reject. Someone with logic and decency - qualities the developers clearly lack given their recent proposed updates, and today's update. If Tanki was controlled by developers like him, maybe we wouldn't have the mess created by such changes as we see today. They might have to make money, but doing so in such a disgustingly blatant pay-to-win manner as with this latest update is certainly not the way to go, and will only serve to alienate many players and rapidly decrease Tanki's already dwindling player base.

It is funny indeed if we are not, since such suggestions seem right in line with the developers current thinking :) . And that includes increasing the price of previously free items ? ! Of course.

Generally ammo costs are low compared to the amount of credits earned in battles. Rate of fire is generally lower as well (15s reloads in TO would be unheard of).

I really don't understand how TO plans to attract and keep new players.

They are now at such a huge handicap.  I wouldn't even start a new account now.
