Idea for Vulcan

Recommended Posts

One of the main characteristics of vulcan is its self-overheating mechanism, when you shoot for too long, the gun starts to overheat and damage the tank itself. This is done so that vulcan does not become an eternal blaze of bullets. However, with the introduction of Heat Immunity, players can shoot forever without receiving self damage, which is not supposed to happen. It is the same problem twins had back in the day before they added splash/self damage to it. Vulcan is an even deadlier case because it is medium ranged as opposed to twins short range, and it has an augment that can set fire onto people. The combination of no self damage and setting fire to others while shooting forever is just broken and overused. I have a couple of ideas on how to combat this.

1. If a player using Vulcan shoots for too long and the entire yellow bar becomes empty, the gun will automatically stop shooting to restock on ammo, and will take 3-5 seconds to start shooting again. Self-heating is removed. Incendiary Band will set fire upon criticals with slightly decreased normal damage. Increase critical chance if it becomes too bad.

2. Shooting for too long will cause shots to start misfiring, causing mini-explosions within the tank itself, damaging it slowly until the tank stops shooting. Self-heating is removed. Incendiary Band will set fire upon criticals with slightly decreased normal damage. Increase critical chance if it becomes too bad.

3. Since heat immunity is technically heat shields placed on the outside of the tank to make it immune to oncoming heat, if a vulcan shoots for too long, his tank will start to heat up from the inside. Other tanks cannot increase/lengthen this heat effect because of the heat shields from heat immunity, and can only cool down/freeze him.

4. (Not very sure about this idea) Armour Piercing will now ignore immunities except for Armour Piercing immunity.

(PS: They will all apply to every hull augment including resistances too, but it will only mainly affect heat immunity/resistance other than #4 which affects everything)
