Why isn't Competitive mode still a thing?

I play this game since 2015 and back then matchmaking wasn't implemented so there was no need for competitive because u could just enter a 1h long match but now, we really need a competitive mode, i rather play one long match than a lot of 10min matches

It's mainly because everyone is worrying about playing MM battles because 99% of the rewards today are focused in matchmaking battles.

Only the very small percentage of players who have all their desired equipment and/or at max level end up having time for hours-long Pro Battles.

Devs announced plans for a "ranked matchmaking" a while ago, but from what I understand, it's only in the long-term bucket list right now.

Competitive matches are usually long, aka for that we need more, like the double amount of online players.

MM is out of competitive for many different reasons. From maps' pool to Overdrives to GSs.

The only competition in MM is to challenge yourself how to fight their OP equipment and their unfair advantage ODs. Because any real normal battle against them without their unreasonable powers, any normal player who have intuitive skill will beat them.

The only time when MM is competitive is if everyone in the battle has 9500 GS or higher.
