Make Tanki pay to play

That's true, you make a good point. 

What I mean is, any new player starts with mk7-15 equipment, and as they play their experience takes it to mk7-20 equipment (depending on how much they play with it). Also, earning XP unlocks new augments and such.

Been playing it a bit more off-late, and it's absolutely fantastic.

Regarding MM, it would be short term pain for long term gain.

Not sure how feasible the idea is though, I must admit.

It would have to be a LOT more than $20.   They get that just from the "light" buyers now.  Heavy buyers ... can't even guess.  But to replace the revenue from light and heavy buyers - in a "one time payout" - would be way more than $20.

They'd never get enough people paying (whatever they charge) to run a proper matchmaker.  IMO there won't be enough players willing to pay that up front.
