Honestly, I don't think this is necessary. The tutorial doesn't really serve as a tutorial but more of a fun little taste of what Tanki it like. It is meant to get you hooked into the game rather than teach you everything you need to know. As you suggested, a bit more health to some of the AI tanks would make it a bit closer to the game without taking away the fun and easy feel.

 

Perhaps instead of the tutorial getting a rework, there could be a mini intro when you first create an account like some other games do. For example, it takes you to the garage and describes everything. It forces you to buy Hunter and Smoky and Green to get you used to purchasing stuff.

It could then take you to the battle screen and run you through the different battle modes and how to join battles.

That alone should give the new user enough of an intro to not be "thrown in the deep end" of the game.

 

Agree with the last bit. I just wish the tutorial is more like.. well.. a tutorial rather than a 'little taste' :/

That little taste is nowhere near sufficient enough to get players into the game. I wish the devs understood that ._.

Like seriously, I made a new account and i always hear:

 

"What do i do with the flag?"

 

or:

 

"Why won't it work?"

 

When they have the flag and trying to cap it but cant since our flag isnt there.

It could be an optional video guide that appears next to the "battles" at the top of the battle list.  You click on it and it opens up the video.

A short tutorial that teaches you the

- basics of controls and kills

- to cap a single flag (get it from enemy base, drive to your base over flagpoint but your flag is not there, your flag is held by another tank around the corner, drive over and kill him, return your flag, cap it then)

- CP (kill the tnk close to CP and park there to cap the CP)

should be enough.

 

On the first time you are join a CTF or a CP game, it could tell you, that in the lobby on the left side of the screen (where the chat uses to be for higher ranks), the yellow text there explains the CTF, TDM and CP gamemode.. and provides a link to a short video tutorial.

I saw a guy who complained he couldn't capture the flag... he kept driving over his empty flag platform with the enemy flag as it was a stalemate :D

I actually remember very clearly how I had the same "problem" when I was in my first CTF battle back in 2011. Took me a while to figure out that our own flag needs to be at the base too. I was Corporal at the time :D

Mafioso most likely did tell you those that he recommends because he tested them.

Direct links can only send you to the picture but BBcode makes it appear in the forum.
