Longer and more informative tutorial

 Share

Recommended Posts

for me, i would want to be in a losing team but have fought hard with skilled players than to be in a team with unskilled players(if you have a keyboard that doesn't have multi-touch, you're an exception) and only going in high rank battles to get high ranked funds (i know we have the rank range for a reason but that is more of a chance whether you'll get a skilled low ranker or not)

so i propose an idea on improving the tutorial by showing tips on what type of tanker they are, whether playing a light hull, med etc. not playing in high ranks if you're not prepared and a huge chance that you'll be getting the same amount of fund if compare to their rank range battle in that time amount (15 min battle in major battle = 42 min battle legend battle for e.g) and to relate from my previous idea is to implement the tutorial on encouraging players to use drugs as they are not just for self-gain but for teamwork too.

although this may not improve everyone, i'm highly confident that this will still improve battles drastically to have better players .For tutorials, they'll start at the rank of private and to whenever which rank they finish it and by completing each step of tutorial they'll receive a good amount of rewards (the amount that will convince players to do the tutorials).

Thing is, the tutorial is only meant to give the player a very basic overview of what the game is and how to play it. Stuffing in a ton of advice for strategy and various minor details is a bad idea, since it will only confuse new players and by the time they reach a point where that advice would be useful, they will have already forgotten most of it.

Better to have such tips given to mid-high rankers, who already know all the basics of the game.

Hello, Moderators!

My previous topic was invalid, so I am recreating it. I simply would like if there were more ways to show newbies the ropes. More loading screens, and a better and more detailed tutorial. Imagine how you can build these players into something greater than just showing them how to join battles and what the garage is. I like this game, and its players. I want the players to give it their all, except they don't know an "All" until they sit there, dying over and over, spending hours or days finding out how to play, and what things are. Either that, or they will quit the game. And I DON'T want that... Build these players a foundation, Admins, so they can build their own home that they are comfortable in.

Thank you for reading, and farewell.

Also make player able to die not invincible.

I worked out that the player is Godmode_ON. Here is why: A thunder will normally take about four shots to kill you if you have a medium hull. I counted, and it took about 80 (or rather it took 40 to drain half my health and then I got bored and killed him :D) Godmode_ON has 95% protection (you can tell from damage indicators) and that means he has 20x HP. 4x20 = 80.

Think you've conquered Tanki? Think again. One of the hardest challenges is to complete the tutorial... without taking a single point of damage. Try it. See how far you can get.

Hello guys!!

I suggest making a tutorial that a new player have to play after making an account(this is different from the other tutorial that is available now) they will be forced to know how to use an overdrive telling them how to press it . And also teach them how to maneuvre their tanks to get past obstacles, so that in a real battle they would know how to use an overdrive and not push other people around .

Doing what you suggest won't make much of a difference. Some people are simply bad at video games and they will never be able to not bump into obstacles or remember to use overdrive, no matter how many times you force them to do a tutorial. Would be nice to have overdrive included in the tutorial, but driving, shooting and the rest of the skills all come from practice.

The Tutorial that was implemented when I started playing Tanki, was even more basic than it is now and left my head with a lot of ???. The one now is a major improvement, if you can believe that. I spent a week reading the forums and watching videos on youtube before entering my first battle.

I think the Tutorial should be no less than 15 minutes (the length of a game battle), a bit more informative (many already mentioned). At the end of the Tutorial, the player should be encouraged to visit the "Welcome" format and "Advice of experienced players to Beginners" in the forum.

The tutorial should also teach players how to overdrive (one part is where u have to overdrive to wreck a bunch of other tanks and they want u to press shift). The tutorial should also teach players about supplies and drop boxes. Firebird should be nerfed in the tutorial because it used to be that everyone used firebird because they thought it was OP since in the tutorial its instantly kills other tanks. Also, one part is where you have to turn your turret so the game teaches you that you can turn your turret.

I just made up a new account. It didn't take me to the tutorial, instead, I found myself in an ongoing battle with real players. At the bottom of the screen was a box showing the controls. I asked about it in Q&A. I was given a link, but no explanation.

After I finished my second battle, I was able to buy ALL the turrets and hulls M0 for 1 USD.

Everything starts with a boring battle doesnt it? Well this is what they all think. This is boring. Thats what we all think. But it can certainly, easily improve.

Lets say you are bored and you search for tank games one day, tanki online comes first on your google results and you being yourself, cant resist clicking it. Here we go, signed up and ready for battle, but here is where the first change kicks in.

Number #1 Choose your weapon.

All m3 turrets and weapons come up, are you kidding me? M3 at that rank? No, its only for a battle, your first battle ever which will give you the taste of what to expect in the future of the game. You choose ricochet and the hole window pops up explaining what ricochet does, of-course you dont read it and keep up by pressing continue, ofcourse, you choose viking. Suddenly you come up placed in the same team with 9 other players which also went through the same process and have their limited time m3s. This battle lasted 20 minutes not 10, you now have it implemented in your head that this is your goal, ricochet is your future.

Number #2 Advanced Parkour and battle Groups

Now parkour battles can be accessible by all ranks (except the first 2), so all you needed to play with your friend is rank up 2 times and here you go, you are connected with the person that brought you to the game. Battle groups exist in ranges of 8 ranks. The lowest in the group must not be 8 ranks lower or higher than the other people in the group. Otherwise YOU, WILL BE ABLE TO JOIN THE GROUP without being able to click play, everytime they click play a message appears "A player is either too high or low ranked for this group"

Number #3 The aftermath

Your ricochet m3 becomes m0 as does your viking, (in case you chose those) and you begin the worlds most balanced game. The offer to buy all turrets m0 appears, cant resist buying it.

Number #4 Main Chat

What is a game without chatting? Introducing the group chat to chat with your friends, you still have to rank up eight times to go to the normal main chat but the group chat is there for every rank. (The reason every player can now join any group even without playing) Now about the main chat, you will be able to see what everyone says but wont be able to chat yourself. Everytime you type something a message would appear in green. "The main chat can not be used before the eight rank"

I hope you enjoyed my idea and although i think its perfect i suggest you adding more strategies to it. We need newbie engagement and we need it now, this is the future of the game.
