Arms race is cool, but let's be honest....

The better your internet connection, the higher your chance of winning.

Also, turrets that do great in this mode:

  • Firebird
    • No Heat Immunity and Firebird Modules :)
  • Isida
    • Damage is way too high
  • Tesla
    • Damage output is way too high
  • Vulcan
    • A good amount of damage with good range
  • Striker
    • Turns out, if no one is using speed boost, it's really hard to dodge a salvo
  • Magnum
    • Well, only if you mastered Magnum, but still, it's REALLY easy to steal kills and/or destroy groups of enemies with this

Turrets that are horrible in this mode:

  • Hammer
    • Hammer is fine against most hulls, but Viking is so low to the ground that unless you rock your hull to properly aim, half your pellets will most likely miss the targets in Arms Race (literally just flies over the Vikings) and thus you won't be doing damage to your full potential - and Hammer needs 3 perfect hits to destroy Viking without reloading and its sluggish firing rate makes it easy for other enemies to steal your kill or just outright kill you when using Hammer.
  • Railgun
    • For a turret with a relatively slow firing rate, it does less than ideal damage. Typically requires 3 hits to destroy a Viking, but if there's a delay of 3 or 4 seconds in between each shot, it leaves plenty of opportunities for enemies to steal your kill or just kill you if they are using a turret with higher damage per second. Also, yes, Railgun excels in long range combat but Arms Race is DM, which means enemies may spawn right next to you, and as we all know, Railgun doesn't do so well in close range combat, especially against turrets with high DPS like Isida.

Arms races is fun but takes too long. At average u earn 5k crystals at the end of the battle. I can earn that in five deathmatches with premium. I got to bonk once but it ended without me actually using it to shoot people :(

I didn't mind it. While it was kinda fun because it was more skill-based than say regular DM or Solo Juggernaut, it was also really annoying because it requires you to be good at every turret, but also be great so that you can get past each turret's natural setbacks (because not every turret can shine in DM).

Turrets I did particularly well with:

  • Firebird/Freeze/Isida/Tesla: Obviously.
  • Shaft/Striker: I have a lot of practice with those turrets.
  • Vulcan: Not great in DM mode, but I found that ignoring the burning can help get that one last bit of damage out. I remember I got three kills in one spawn and without reloading, and I was able to do that because I let myself overheat.

Turrets I struggled with:

  • Smoky: It's such a slow killer. Also, it's a lot more frustrating to use now that they gave it projectiles.
  • Railgun: This is terrible in DM and it's weak too.
  • Thunder: Ehh, it was pretty slow to kill but it's not as bad as Smoky.
  • Hammer: Arms Race was held when there was a bug that would have you do only 200 damage at point-blank range, so of course it's going to perform poorly. I wonder how well it'll fare now that that bug is fixed.
  • Gauss: I don't know, it's just not quite as deadly as Shaft here.

I'd like to see this mode again, but the supply drops should be removed. The key to winning is to pay attention to the supply drops, and it kinda kills the balance for that brief period. It reminds me of the old days of Tanki when drugging was a big annoyance and the buyers always had full supplies while everyone else had like barely any supplies to use.
