Chameleon ability

This ability is a "smart" camouflage. It is like a chameleon's skin. It is actually opaque,, so u can camaflouge without being seen easily. Only the place with iron on your tank will remain not camaflouged. Hope you like it!

umm so are we legalizing bugs now? I remember a bug a while ago in flash which made tanks invisible but they still dealt damage. You could see a few parts of their tank but the rest were invisible.

Even though Paints are just cosmetic items like Skins, it's still pretty cool to have this kind of Paint.

We can, actually, camouflage like it says in the descriptions for Paints!

And yes, this Paint might be an Exotic item Drop like the above says.

@Iron_Man It won't cause bugs as long as Developers make it efficiently and without any error possibilities.

Plus, it can be nice to do another kind of addition into the game.

Like in the past, we got our first Animated Paint, Flow I believe!

Since it was a moving Paint, we thought having this equipped would cause bugs, etc.

But Developers improved, tested, and fixed any bugs anything had. Now we have all these Animated Paints in the game!

So it's nice to implement this new kind of Paint, Camouflage or Chameleon.

It will give more variety and interest in Paints!

We might want to make it a little fair for the enemy.

So when our Tank, with Chameleon Paint, gets shot at by any enemy's weapon, our Tank shows its full self (Paint, Turret, Hull, ...) for like a second.

This can at least allow the enemy to located how we are standing and can not miss their shots all the time.

Plus, when we shoot at enemies, we usually shoot in places where they can lose their balance to move, and lose their accuracy at shooting us.

We should make the Chameleon Paint users blink and show their full tank for a second or so, so its fair.

Actually if the enemy is aiming at a chameleon paint user they should see the red outline right?

Ever since paints lost their protective properties (which then became Modules), developers decided to keep paints as exclusively cosmetic items, with some limited camouflage potential. At the moment there are no plans to add intentional gameplay advantages to any new paints. However, it's possible that in the future there could be a special ability (for example from a drone, augment, or a new hull's overdrive), which will allow a tank to appear invisible (or less visible) to enemies.

Topic title and content edited for clarity.

Ah well chameleon is the paint name just to be clear @Maf

BTW I wrote another topic about hull augment that I think is wrongly declined. Can you check if it is really against the rules? Thanks.

It cannot be equipped like a paint. Paints must not give intentional gameplay benefits.

No, each hull must have its own unique overdrive to avoid confusion. This will not change.

Yeah otherwise i would already put viking OD on my crusader or hornet OD, because viking OD has recoil on crusader

Is that why none of the paints created match the same color as any map?

@Mafthen if  you equip the ability you can't equip paint then. I thought paints were supposed to give camaflouge also ?

If you look at the description of most paints, it says that the paint is just a decorative item that might have some camouflaging properties. The reason paints (and skins, and shot effects) are 100% cosmetic, is so that they can be added to the game for any price and in any number, without affecting game balance. Also, adding a paint with an intentional gameplay advantage would ruin diversity. All the 400+ existing paints instantly become useless because of that one paint that has benefits.

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm, because there are definitely paints with textures very similar to maps. However, due to the nature of the game and the fact that paints only cover something like 60% of the tank's surface, using them to actually camouflage yourself in plain sight is not very effective.

Not sarcasm. I tried out all the camouflage paints I have and the only ones I have found that have the closest color to map color is: White (winter maps) Black (night maps), Steel (maps with concrete walls), Dragon (maps with green carpeting) and Rock (maps with cliff sides).

Well there you go - there ARE paints that work as camouflage, right?

Closest in color but not exact. The M0 equipment did not have metal parts and allowed for full paint coverage. Now all the equipment is M3-based and the metal parts prevent any full camouflage.
