Changing how equipments' upgrading works

I see many people of the rank Legend, but only a few with 9999 GS. Even if we exclude the 4 slot and count 9699 as max GS, there are comparatively few.

This not only is a bad sign in my opinion, but also is very painful to play against. I am using Gear Score as a measure of equipment strength so yeah.

It doesn't really feel good for anyone to just get one shotted most of the time by your opponents.

Why does this happen?

The main reason I believe this happens is because of the extreme or high costs of equipment. How can a poor soul upgrade something worth 1 million? If you look at my ratings page, you'll see that I'd earned only 1M crystals till now. This is in turn connected to experience boost. People now rank up faster than they earn crystals. So they end up with lower grade equipment but at insanely high ranks.

So how do I suggest to solve this problem? Well I think it would be best if we add a new mechanism with which people upgrade their equipment by earning more experience with that particular equipment. This will work for Hulls, Turrets and Protection modules.

Say for instance you earn 10 000 exp with Railgun Mk1, you unlock Mk2. This number will increase from Mk1 to Mk7. Once you reach Mk7, you are not going to unlock any other modification but just keep upgrading the one you have and get it to Mk8.

With this, I believe that everyone will have enough crystals to buy and upgrade drones. They will also have sufficient resources to get supplies to feed their drones and can use the drone of their choice without the fear of running out of batteries.

So what do you think huh? Will it solve our problems?

Experience-based upgrading is definitely worth looking into, I feel like it could be way more balanced. I like the idea.

Another advantage for player who stay in one turret, I have 11 Mk7 turrets. I don't play in them equally, Isida Mk7 with 7K experience. If your idea get implemented, this will hurt me alot in divertising my garage. And will help much Thunder-Viking bots who don't think about other equipment.

No, if the 4th module was accessible, alot of players will have a 4th Mk7 protection at least which is 210+ GS. The count isn't starting from 9699

The ratings page only shows crystal earnings from battles, and not crystal earnings from missions, containers, challenges, etc. Taking into account these other crystal sources I'm not so sure that the crystal earning to EXP ratio is worse than it was before.

Tying upgrades to EXP essentially locks players into using only a limited set of equipment. What happens when a Legend wants to use a new turret? Will they have to play with low Mks of that turret until it is fully upgraded?

Wouldn't an experience-based upgrading system impact the game economy?

I suppose that I have a solution to this.

Adding a hours-played-based upgrading system. What do you think? I can still edit the idea

Maybe adding this system on top of crystal based system would be good.

What I mean is that you can always buy the next modification when you reach the required rank but your equipment also gets upgraded due to experience. Well what do you think of hours-played-based upgrading system? The more your play with a turret, the more it gets upgraded ?

I think that is a smart suggestion but not likely to be implemented. For instance you can earn experience even if you don't earn crystals. That is great, but too f2p. Anyone who just plays a certain combo for a period of time will get the next level; that is OP. I like this idea but it likely won't be implemented. But let's dream on!

It may be better to make it like this: The more experience you earn, the cheaper the items get. Also how does this idea works with drones?

I really like this idea. It would force people to actually get some skills for their turrets they want to upgrade. Although there is the slight issue that um, what happens to crystals?

This might work better.

And sadly, I don't think it will be implemented. But it's still a great idea.

Disagree, why? because by doing so, you actually kill the passion for waiting for sales and upgrading stuffs but also the economy of TO.
