You mentioned about Trickster and Defender actually I am just Warrant Officer 3.

OK sorry, I didn't check your rank and assumed that you must be talking about high rank gameplay, I see. Many players also use lower rank accounts to post, so even that isn't sure to tell what rank someone really is :P .

As for ranks around Warrant Officer 3, Paladin with Brutus drone will do just fine. Brutus is almost certainly the drone you want to be getting to 20/20 first around those early ranks (unless you are a buyer).

Although I have to say, the SPRINTER drone is currently amazing in CTF (unlocked at Warrant Officer 2), even if you use that with 5/20 upgrades, at low ranks it is really good. It has a 9 second recharge, and if you pick up a flag and drop it again, and pick up again it gives you a full heal and full supplies for a short time, at the cost of only one speed boost. I tried it on a low rank alt and it is amazing in CTF. At third lieutenant you unlock the Lifeguard drone which is also great, but 20/20 brutus is your all round drone for low ranks and it should work just fine too.

Before they nerfed dilatory on tesla it was THE only solution that tackled (to a degree) the flying hack problem, now tesla is quite crap at doing that now, maybe the little hacks were crying to much when I was destroying them on a more regular basis than they were used to.

If Hopper is flying/jump hack, what does that make Viking? ?

A hull that can't fly onto walls and buildings and dominate battles all on it's own.

Think that pretty much exonerates viking from being a OP GAME CHANGER as you seem to think it is, which of course it's not. The flying cheat alongside paladin (no protection module) are the 2 that change the outlook of any battle in a instant, followed closely by hornet with active OD and after that, take your pick of all the OP augments that have flooded the game and turned it into a jumbled complicated mess, but nowhere near as complicated as the old upgrading process, which the devs thought in their infinite wisdom (greed) needed a update to make it "less complicated" for newbies ? complete trash.

The game has become OTT, ultra container only for the benefit of buyers. The flying hack is exactly how I have described it and like paladin it's exactly how the devs want it, with no counter to it in battles until they have exhausted every possible way they can think of to make cash from the noobish buyers.

Viking is not OP, the flying hack is.

I definitely couldn't say that Viking is OP in the current meta, now that we have Paladin and a buffed Hunter, and other hulls such as Mammoth/Dictator and Crusader being so strong right now. Also if Jammer is buffed it will fall behind further. Not to mention the fact that it now has the same speed as Hunter and Dictator, but less power and weight (and possibly less acceleration than Hunter? Not sure). So when overdrives are down, it is inferior to the other medium hulls.

Viking is good, but just above average I would say personally. I still use it a lot, but it is just one of many hulls I use rather than a go-to in most matchups like it was once.

The acceleration does indeed look to be the same (you can see how it takes about the same time to stop and reverse at the end of each clip), but the drastic difference is in how the hulls turn. Due to Wasp's better grip on the surface, it can make swift and sharp turns without slowing down or drifting all that much. On the other hand, Hopper needs to slow down to almost a complete stop in order to make the turn, otherwise it would massively overshoot, which usually leads to awkwardly crashing into walls and reversing.

Hoppers strafing ability more than offsets that.

It can also start it's turn before it gets to it's destination - basically swiveling in place.

The players who've practiced with it a lot have overcome the deficiencies you speak of.  It might have a steep learning curve, but once that's overcome it is basically an OP hull.

Like I said - the hovering hulls have ruined the capping modes.  I used to favor them - now I stay away.
