Which are the current best hulls in every category (light, medium, heavy) in the game and why?

Also, please say whether they're the best in general with any kind of turret attached, or if you're thinking of a certain turret/type of turret (ie long-range) attached...

Personally, I think the biggest factor deciding these days is which OD is the most useful in the battles.

Light Hulls - Currently I think the best one is Hornet simply because it has the most viable OD that applies a useful AP and Jammer effects, allows you to get guaranteed critical hits for a couple of seconds which is super useful with stuff like Freeze and also allows you to see the enemy positions. Wasp is more gimmicky these days, its OD requires specific situations and modes to be useful, Hopper kind of died out, the OD can still be useful in certain modes.

Medium Hulls - I would say based on usage and OD usefulness Viking is defo undisputed king, it is still in my opinion one of the most OP things when it comes to OD, and requires little to no skill. Very closely second or perhaps even on the same position as viking would be Paladin. Very useful OD that lasts long, heals you and your teammates, applies AP effect on every enemy in its proximity and even gives you immunity to all status effects. It is just nightmare going against it for extended period in battles. Hunter would be third, another very powerful OD that can help clean a lot of enemies, that stun and emp are sooo freaaaking looong. Dictator is quite useful with Supercharge but I think it requires a specific turrets or augments to maximize its usefulness. Crusader, still probably takes the back seat even after receiving buff to its OD it just isnt as viable as the other hulls.

Heavy hulls - I think Ares is definitely the most used right now. After so many freaking changes, that OD just travels so fast and with such a huge range that it easily cleans multiple  enemies. It still requires a bit of timing and good placements but out of the other heavy hulls, I think it is the most dangerous and viable. Titan is okayish, it got its old healing ability back, but it is still fifty/fifty with it, it can be good, but I think it just gets countered fairly easily by many other ODs. Mammoth can be useful in certain modes and with certain drones support its speed, oftentimes even in defense. But i just think it isnt as much used anymore.

 

So for me, if I had to choose just three, one from each category - it would be Hornet, Ares and then either Viking or Paladin depending on preference, as they are very close in terms of overall viability and usefulness

I'll just chime in to say that I don't understand people who say Viking OD is the best. I use Viking all the time and I can only wish I could change its OD, I hate it.

 

Hunter: instant ZAP with plenty of range that reaches magically around corners, does a ton of damage you can't reduce, stuns, applies EMP, all with the press of a button. 

Not to mention it can disable Wasp bombs, Ares Balls, Titan domes, etc. 

Paladin: not as strong as it used to be, but still very good and with plenty of utility. 

Dictator: Amazing OD not only for the Supercharge, but for the teamplay potential it has. A couple of Dictators in Siege can win you games. 

Crusader: trash OD, this one I'll put below Viking for sure. But it can work sometimes. 

 

Now, Viking. 

Yes, increased fire rate and damage, but you are exposed to any other OD, you are vulnerable to enemy fire, one Gauss shot aimed at your hull and you are now sideways shooting at a wall... plus, Stun is a thing that blocks the OD midway. 

Most of the time when I use it I can't even check my HP due to the sheer chaos, and I end up dying in a couple of enemy hits.

 

All and all, my rating would be

Paladin: 9/10 - Hunter: 8,5/10 - Dictator: 8,5/10 - Viking: 6/10 - Crusader: 5/10

Wasp: 3/10 - Hopper: 5,5/10 - Hornet: 7,5/10

Titan: 7,5/10 - Mammoth: 4,5/10 - Ares: 12/10 (no comment)

I am never fun of hunter, because its ugly

But ever since status effect introduced

Hunter is a must in CTF and RGB, the only hull give you mass stun and emp at same time, and has decent health

Heavy hull, it is ares or mammoth.

When enemy base is mine by miner or sabotur, mammoth OD is the only solution to crush into enemy base and bring flag out due its mine immu.

Ares is good for damage output

Light hull is joke since too many gun can 1 shot kill them
