Hover hull KEYBOARD STRAFE without MOUSE (STRAFE KEY)

Hello, I would like to see this implemented with the game so I can strafe my Hover Hulls. 

I find mouse control very awkward and don't like it.

With other FPS games they usually use SHIFT key then you press shift with arrow to strafe; can they add a strafe shift key to controls menu? like LEFT ALT key

and then you can just use left/right arrow in combination with it to strafe.

If someone can pass this idea to the developers; very much appreciated...thanks

Mouse controls are just lousy; I can't play this way and I'm sure there is others like me.

Umm, i'm finding this hard to imagine, what are you finding difficult with it?

Also that in reality would make it more complicated. Hovers work in a way where the hull moves unilaterally in any directed, relative to where you are facing (hull pov wise), hence why keyboard controls aren't really suitable for it.

Also adding an extra key for a certain type of hull, I see the merit behind it, but I highly doubt the devs are looking to change this considering majority of the players I have seen on hovers have not had difficulty with it.

What other FPS games do you play where you don't use your mouse??

Here's an idea:

With mouse controls, A and D are strafe and mouse turret rotation controls hull rotation

With keyboard controls, A and D could strafe and hull rotation follows turret rotation just like mouse controls, but turret rotation is controlled by keyboard.

Though this could get in the way of Crusader parkour, so maybe make it optional.

I had thought of this when hovers released too, WASD would simply operate the same as with mouse controls does, with the difference being that 'Z and X (, .)' control the directional viewpoint, and 'C (/)' allowing the locking of turret position just as the right click does. Effectively the right hand side of the keyboard would 'emulate' the mouse motion.

I simply assumed that they didn't want to implement this originally to keep the standard zxc and arrowkey in main keyboard use rather than the other way around.

Only way to truly know how many players use what type of controls for items is to have some form of poll I assume?

Well I was just thinking use the LEFT ALT key; hold it down then use LEFT/RIGHT ARROW keys to strafe. I think, it shouldn't  be too hard to add this option.

I'm just use to using keyboard only; perhaps that is true most don't find it hard to use mouse control with hover hulls.

I use A (REPAIR KIT), S(ARMOR), D(DOUBLE DAMAGE), F (SPEED); I find this much better than using the # keys.

SO LEFT ALT Key for STRAFE would work for me.

Glad someone cares about my feedback regarding this...

I think this is a solid idea as well, but my suggestion aims to create parity between keyboard/mouse controls. Instead of creating a gap between the two control options, we should try to equalize the playing field: both options should have roughly the same control structure so that it's equally simple to move with keyboard or mouse.

Your idea would actually give keyboard controls a sizeable advantage over mouse controls: the ability to switch between strafe and rotation.

Interesting, so say, would the movement be the same as it currently is if you didn't press the left-alt key as a keyboard user? So a dual option? Would mouse controls also get a similar option then?

The mouse emulation variant would probably be the easiest way around it, which would also realistically have a sensitivity parameter.

On a side note, I do see that you have also re-bound some of the keybinds. Have you tried altering your sensitivity for the mouse controls by any chance. Do you feel that it doesn't turn enough, or turns too much? Or is it a trackpad which isn't really convenient to play with?

I used to play this game as a keyboard player in the past but then ever since my return to the game, html's release and the release of the first hovering hull 'Ares', I have always been using mouse controls, including for tracked hulls.

Great idea I wont use it over the mouse but an option to control them with keyboard is a MUST.  In example I'm a laptop player, laptop is portable so many times I don't use the wired mouse.

There is a better solution, to make the hovering hulls accesses by elite people who haven't moved towards the new hovering (stupding) trend. But as always moderator loves to terminate such a good ideas. (merging)
