declined Huge Discount on Tanker's Birthday

It would be to great to have an option for each player to save his/her birthday in the game, and each year, on that day, that particular player will get a huge discount like 50% or 75% on all the items present in the shop and garage and upgrades and speed-ups, on the occasion of his/her birthday. It would be like a huge birthday present to the player. Just imagine how awesome it would be!

We've had this idea many times before. Feel free to look through the archived topic to see how the discussion went.

Developer Opex Rah declined the idea, saying that most people would just set their birthday to the next day in order to claim the gift as soon as possible, and as a result it would just be a bunch of free stuff given once a year for no particular reason. It's not worth the effort required to implement it.

That's a pretty lame excuse to be fair. Everyone knows that developers can just make it so that the birthday is fixed permanently once you set it (or, you can only set it once per calendar year).

Ok, so let's say they release the feature today. The vast majority of players will just set their "birthday" to tomorrow so that they can quickly get free stuff.

I mean it doesn't matter, right? They are still going to be capped to 1 per year.

Set it to the day you made the account! No way to exploit that.

If the problem is "people will just claim it whenever is most convenient", why not just make it as your Tanki Online account birthday? Like the day when you created your account, is the day that is your "birthday". Then it still has the special meaning of the day being important. Happens once a year. Plus it'd be automatic, players wouldn't have to set it at all.

I'm sure players will be absolutely delighted to provide their real IDs to some random game company for a little gift.

That makes sense. But in that case the idea still falls under "ideas for adding/increasing rewards or bonuses", which we don't accept. And it's still not worth the effort to implement something that happens just once a year. Might as well just increase Tanki Birthday rewards instead.

We already have freebie's and huge discounts from Tanki's bday, no need to add more...

Shall this suggestion goes through, we either have to strip off Tanki BDay's rewards or reduce the overall rewards we get from other major Tanki holidays.

I think the opposite. It's worth the effort because it happens once a year, on a very special day for the player.

Unfortunately, sentimental value has little importance when it comes to calculating return investment. To implement this into the game, developers would have to create a whole new system that reads each player's registration date and creates a special mission reward for them to claim on their account on that date. Now, I'm no software developer, but I suspect that doing this is a lot more complicated than merely adding a new special mission for everyone the way it's normally done. Meanwhile, the effect is pretty much exactly the same as simply giving more free stuff during normal celebrations like New Year and Tanki birthday.
