Players who prefer Mammoth over Ares, why?

Many players seem to consider Ares as the most powerful heavy hull with the most practical OD. Mammoth seems to be pretty popular too though, so the players who prefer it over Mammoth, it would be interesting to hear your reasoning and the turrets, drones and tactics and so on that you use.

Everything does too much damage for Mammoth to be reliable anymore. When you use your OverDrive, everything shoots you, and it actually requires some skill to use it well, making it useless in most situations but bases with horrible entrances that have someone spamming mines all over the place, this making the hull very unpopular, it's also massively big, and with everything dealing huge splash damage it's even worse, therefore resulting in the hull being incredibly unpopular.

On the other side, we have the braindead Ares "haha, ball go brrrr". You press a button and kill everything in front of you, it deals damage that cannot be reduced, and often impossible to avoid because of the ridiculously overpowered link range it has. I despise anyone who abuses this hull, no skill involved, just use a nuclear supply and spam it all over the place. Its link is SO BIG that even if you had a mammoth with its overdrive active, it would lose half health before destroying Ares's ball.

Well honestly it's very simple for me. I don't have any experience whatsoever with mouse controls. Not only I cannot control the aerial hulls, I do not have a good enough mouse set up to use it effectively. Besides the most important reason for me using mammoth is that I have unlocked all the status effect's alternations except for jammer with mammoth, while my Ares doesn't have any of them yet.

Tanki Devs please add STRAFE Keybind for hover hulls.... I am keyboard only and find mammoth more enjoyable to drive than ARES. Though I sometimes use ARES

in Siege. I disagree Frederick that ARES is good (overkill not enough grouped enemy usually) in control points, but yes siege.

Mammoth you really need trickster drone  to make that OD more useful, and I found it quite useful in Siege/CP.

I only started using heavy hulls when I had maxed Trickster

I can use them successfully on small maps sometimes with Hyperion, but in most cases it is just too slow with drones that don't boost speed

I'm never going to use Ares because I'm never going to use mouse controls or mobile

(I have fully upgraded Titans on two accounts, but only use them in SGE)

Before the last 50% sale I only had one fully upgraded Mammoth, but now all of my main accounts have it and are upgrading it from mk7 because it can be a lot of fun, especially now that its OD last 15 seconds (and charges very quickly)

(I'm not going to get any more Titans)

I don't camp and I don't use long-range turrets much, so I like to use Trickster with Mammoth and drive around the map with melee or short-range turrets (Freeze and Twins are my favorites) and bulldozing anything smaller or chasing people when its OD is on

It's also really good on small maps where objectives are heavily mined, sometimes I've given up trying to score / cap in RGB / ASL with a light hull + trickster + mine prot and used Mammoth's OD to do it instead

I'm a big Mammoth fan, but it's only something I got in to after fully upgrading at least one light and one medium hull and Trickster (I'd recommend Trickster or Hyperion over anything else as a first not-Brutus drone)

Ares works well with everything, it's OD is very strong in many aspects, melee and range, support and for self.
Mammy tho, neat melee OD, with status cleansing, but selfish in most aspects, can be a nuisance when blocked, but Mammy OD is more fun, driving like a bull basically.

I love using Mammoth and it's OD, but it's biggest downside for me is that it flips too easily when plowing through enemy tanks (while using Trickster or Crisis), which explode after being destroyed by my Mammoth's OD, causing my hull to literally leap into the air and and then flip upside down. It's unfortunate. I really wish devs could remove hulls exploding after being destroyed.

If the wiki is correct, Ares OD takes 238 s to charge (0.42 per s) and Mammoths 150 s (0.67 per s) without battle points speeding up OD charge. So in an 8 min match Mammoth gets 1 more OD, which is nice but also not that much more.
