Improvement to GS score accuracy

Recommended Posts

Use the autdetect for graphics settings to adjust a user's GS score. Their wifi and connection speed is Gear. Arguably the most important gear.

What the user actually CHOOSES to set for their graphics would be irrelevant, but since the system knows when someone has low fps, ping or an older graphics card, this should be taken into account.

Some people complain about buyers, while they themselves benefit from an expensive gaming PC and connection vs a laggy piece of junk that someone else might have which can barely play the game. Using my suggestion, tanki could make it fairer for people while losing nothing.

This would make the GS system unnecessarily confusing, and it wouldn't even improve the accuracy of GS. I've known people who always play at 15-20 FPS and they beat me in a 1v1 every time. Reducing the GS based due to lower FPS and higher ping would achieve absolutely nothing.

Gear refers to tank equipment. Obviously internet connection has nothing to do with that. You're talking about game performance, that is not the same as gear. But why would I care anything about my opponent's internet anyways?

I don't see what's confusing about it, it's as simple as people's score is lower for a worse computer or higher for a better one they paid-for. It's no more or less confusing then a higher or lower score for a better or worse tank. And what it would achieve is fairness in matching opponents together according to the benefits they have other than skill.

People with poor fps beat you(assuming all else being equal) because they are GOOD, while over them in fact YOU have the advantage. If they had pfs to match yours they would beat you way more. And that's as it should be, if they have the skill.

You have correctly understood the problem. I am suggesting that it change.
It should reflect the advantages a player actually has. The rest is supposed to be down to skill (although ofc drugs impact that significantly and are probably not adequately accounted-for in GS at-present)

I can already envision the comments when this update gets released:

"Why does my GS keep going up and down randomly?"
"What happened to my GS? I have a fully upgraded tank and it's not 9999!"
"My GS goes down suddenly when I play on my mom's PC? What happened"?
"Why does this brigadier have a higher GS than me when I have Mk7 equipment?"
"I moved back to my home country of Burkina Faso and now my GS is lower? Why are you discriminating against Africans?"
"I spent $5,000 to win Challenge Accepted and get 10000 GS with my XT drone and now it's been lowered because I have high ping? What a scam!"

etc. etc.

It's already hard enough to get people to understand that better gear = bigger GS number. Imagine trying to explain this new system to people who don't even know what FPS or ping even means.

Besides, GS is a status symbol as much as it is a useful indicator. Reducing it because of poor FPS or ping would negatively impact the game's revenue.

Now that I think about it, a much simpler solution is to display a connection strength symbol next to the player in Tab:

In fact, a lot of online games already use this exact system.

Another common practice is to show the ping/latency value itself in the score board
