I am leaving tanki - a final note

So as I wrote in this thread, I wanted to add a reason for leaving Tanki a couple of days later:

Why wait? Well of course because it will probably be deleted/ blocked. Mods already abruptly closed the thread where I posted my farewell letter. Not only did they close it, they also edited many of the posts, as well as removing mine, other’s and their own posts. All to make themselves and the game look better. Now, in what other system is censorship and manipulation employed by an elite to keep the wheels turning of the machine that upholds their own privileges? That’s right, in totalitarian systems of all shades. This leads me to my addendum. I will not go into politics, I will just state three simple facts.

 

1. Tanki online is owned by Alternativa Game Ltd. based in Perm. Perm lies in a country that is currently, according to the UN, engaged in a genocidal war of aggression against their neighbor.

2. Any money you put into Tanki increases the revenue of Alternativa, which in turn pays their company tax to this state. And all tax in this state is currently channeled to their war chest. It does not matter what any of the 50+ staff at Alternativa may think about the war in question. They of course want their game and their workplace to survive, but as this is dependent on foreign currency pouring in, it inevitably at the same time fuels the war machine. (Sure, western transactions is currently processed through a small money laundering island called Cyprus. This is just an evasion of western sanctions. You can rest assured that vova will get his share of any money you leave in the game.)

3. The f2p community equally contributes to upholding the business of Alternativa, by providing free meat and player volume. This is necessary for the game economy to work. The p2w’s will not have fun slaughtering each other – they need you. Without you the company’s revenue would go down, and there would thus be less money for the state. This is the goal of all western sanctions.

 

I am not looking to attack anyone personally. At the end of the day, western affiliates of the game and western players alike must be the moral judge of their own actions. But if you are looking for a reason to force yourself away from the game, I think this one is as good as it gets.

The OP of the topic posted it as a way to start an argument and escalate into a flame war and it ended up being that way, so the mods had to close it. If you wanted to post a farewell message, a topic dedicated to it is the most appropriate way to do it.

The posts and the thread likely violated the rules of the forum. The strict moderation helps keep people in line, or at least it should.

Rather have that than a toxic forum community, like the one we had in 2021. I had to leave because of it.
