Unable to play

 Share

Question

Been unable to play for a couple months now.

Is it just my computer/connection?

Do I need to download something for my computer? Has anything changed in last few months?

I still have Mac, but was playing on a Mac before.

Anyways. Anyone have any suggestions?

I can get into the main account, but impossible to join a game.

Thanks for the effort, I really appreciate it. I did try the security settings bypass a while ago but at a certain point it felt squirrely and I backed off.  Anyway, thanks again for the input and happy tanking.

What you can do then is wait until the client updates I guess, check if the version number is going up every now and then. Might be that it won't update on its own since you can't start it apparently.

On Windows, you can check the version by hovering over the file that starts the thing, in my case it says 2.0.2.0

You can google up the minimal requirements and the recommended requirements for playing Tanki Online. I think Ive seen them in Tanki Wiki as well.

For example, I found these on Steam, but they might already be outdated, so I am not completely certain. You can compare these with the specifics of your devise.

Spoiler
  • Minimum:
    • OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
    • Processor: 1,6 Ghz or faster
    • Memory: 1 GB RAM
    • Graphics: 128 MB
    • Network: Broadband Internet connection
    • Storage: 100 MB available space
    • Sound Card: Any
    • Additional Notes: Keyboard
  • Recommended:
    • OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
    • Processor: Intel Core i3-i5 2.33GHz
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: 1 GB
    • Network: Broadband Internet connection
    • Storage: 250 MB available space
    • Sound Card: Any
    • Additional Notes: Keyboard

I also had problems running the game on my old PC devise and after upgrading to new one I run the game smoothly now, even on the new remastered maps that have been unplayable for me before.

@iplayatankonline, are you happy with the answer you received ? Or are you still facing the issue ?

I am still unable to join any games. Nothing has changed on my end that I am aware of. I was able to play until sometime end of September ish? Then no matter what I do I get an error whenever I try to load a game. I have all necessary system requirements. I have two areas that I can play Tanki online. I can play it directly on my browser... works better but doesnt load game. I can get into and view my account. Finally I used to just load it from an application, but this is what started to fail... it just stopped loading it at all. So I'm at a loss.

Unfortunatley, there is really not much you can do besides trying to clear the cache and all that stuff. If you're playing on the client, I would recommend you to maybe try and reinstall it, as some time ago there were problems with an older version that wouldn't auto-update; so installing the current one may help resolve your issues. If you don't want to use the client, maybe try playing on a different browser, if you can do so on Macs.

Also, I'm not sure if that's really a thing, but I think I've heard that the game has or had problems running on Mac in recent times. Maybe try and update your drivers and software, etc?

I did both of those things... and that seems to have done it. Thanks. I think it was more the cache. I think I might have tried downloading the client again... but it could have been that too. At some point in all my fiddling it popped up that there was a 2.0 on Tanki, and yeh maybe it hadnt auto updated or something. Anyways, played my first game just now in over a month.

I still have this problem. I reinstalled the client several weeks ago and it won't open. I get a dialog box that says "Tanki Online .app can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information. Safari downloaded this file on November 7, 2023"

I can play in Firefox but I'd much prefer to use the client.

Just as a warning - I don't own a Mac.

I googled your issue, and it seems you can bypass this in your Mac's security settings. To be safe, I'd recommend reinstalling the official client again before doing it. Could give clearing the cache a shot as well if you didn't already, but watch out, as this will reset your settings in Tanki to default.
