Unfortunately, Tanki Online is no longer the free-to-play experience it once was. Casual players now struggle to keep up. But this goes beyond just F2P concerns — it’s about quality of life for the game and its community.

1k golds are now meaningless compared to the high upgrade costs. A ~30% reduction in upgrade prices would help, especially since the low-rank player base is nearly gone, and we constantly face stronger F2WP players with early access to gear. Crystals feel worthless — once 250k guaranteed you an alteration, now you get junk.

Time investment feels punished, not rewarded. MK8 upgrades cost over 1.2 million without promos, and crystal rewards keep dropping — containers once gave up to 1M, now we get 500k or even 100k.

As a veteran player, I remember when Tanki was simple, fun, and community-driven. We had secret room hunts, browser-based battles, and real joy. That fun — that essence — is disappearing.

Please, Tanki devs, consider these issues seriously. The community keeping this game alive deserves better.

All of these issues are related to the economy, and unfortunately you won't get anywhere by asking devs to add more crystal rewards and reduce prices of upgrades. Sure - they will read your feedback, but at the end of the day the game's economy (how much things cost and how much you earn) is decided by actual data, i.e. how much money players are willing to spend.

Just a few days ago, lead game dev Opex-rah responded with a solid "no" to a request to make it easier to earn rewards:

The rep points needed to complete missions, events, etc are way to much.

No. Whether It's an answer you like or not.

By the way, I totally agree with you that things are too expensive and crystals take too long to earn for free, but I'm just saying that a more constructive approach would be to suggest changes that improve the gameplay itself, rather than focusing on the economy.

Or just wait for Tanki Classic. I genuinely believe that it will be a more friendly environment for free players. Might still be very grindy though, just like early Tanki Online.

They've already asked for money. Proving that it is STILL the economy that rules tanki's decisions. Nothing else.

Just wondering... Is there a release date yet...?

Mate, it's a private company that needs to earn a stable revenue to pay salaries and cover its costs. Seriously, how else would they operate? I'm genuinely curious how you'd expect them to earn money to support the project in a "fair" way.

What we can certainly agree on is that devs suck at setting a release date and meeting it. Pretty sure any time there's been an announcement of some new feature and a date for release, it always got massively delayed. So that's why there isn't a concrete release date for TC — they'll announce it when it's done.

That. Summed up in 5 words. Has. Been. My point. Since. Forever.

But--knowing this--you somehow think it's going to be a 'friendly environment for free players'...?

I'm genuinely curious how you'd expect them to operate any different than how they are right now.

Your two points (business + friendly environment for free players) are not mutually exclusive.

They are linked and completely working against one another.

Because tanki is run by a 'private company', I believe there is a different reason for the lack of tanki release date.

Just sayin.

They said early August so expect next week if that promise is true? Also event next week so, its probably gonna be multiple announcements in one go? Thats how it seems at least

My reply to the original post is that i agree, but not for the reason you think.

I do think that if we lower upgrade costs specifically for drones upto 80% supply effectiveness and lower costs of upgrading module upto 35% would make it so even WO ranks could keep up with Legends, tho it does need to go with other stuff i said.

Greed destroyers most things. The devs/(the company) are very good at what they do, conditioning players to spend cash.

The players that have the cash could care less about those that do not, and the devs don't give a flying toss about anyone (buyers or f2p) as long as the sheep keep spending.

TO will continue to get worse until players revolt in enough numbers to make them change the game for the better.

Of course this will probably never happen, sheep, conditioning and all that.

Look at all the complaints they get about the mechanics of the game and all they do is say, "we are concentrating on skins and new shot effects and bringing out a new scam event to keep the sheep happy".

TCSOTO has never been worse than it is now, that is until the next useless update roll's out.

They don't have to work against one another, as seen in the example of multiple (but rare) successful F2P games which don't have crazy P2W mechanics, yet are run by private game dev studios aming to make a profit.

Games like Fortnite are able to do it, but only because they got extremely lucky by finding a good market niche and being in a perfect setup to make the most of it. And also some good decisions, of course.

If the players are willing to support Tanki Classic by buying "useless" cosmetics and paying for a subscription, then devs will have enough money to cover the cost of servers and maintenance, so it won't be necessary to sell P2W stuff to boost revenue.

IIRC Tanki Classic was announced as a subscription based?

Absolutely. And you know what? I was paying when I felt it was worth it. But when devs started blatantly ignoring players feedback I stopped paying. I still could and can, but I’m not paying based on principle. No money if you disrespect your clients. I have no hope for TC and will not play if devs will as a single penny for it.

But what if it meets your expectations and turns out to be exactly what you wanted? Will you wait for others to try it first and check their reviews, and would you then consider paying to play?

I'm not sure. I believe in 2024 Opex said that it will likely be subscription-based, with a price similar to 1/10th of TO Premium. But then the early access bundle sales happened and they sold way more than they expected, so Opex basically said that with this much interest, maybe they won't have to force subscriptions after all.

I think it will probably be F2P, but with features like battle creation locked behind a subscription.

Well, if TC will bring back the spirit of the original TO and restore relationship with the community, sure. But that's quite a tall order. If devs had any idea how to fix things, they would have done it already.
