For Blackopsninja - 2 reasons

1. Someone hacks ur account. So when you are trying to play, they log in which makes u log off

2. Your computer Problem. Try to clear your cache, and restart the browser.

i cant go into garage when ever i do it will say "server connection closed"

I've seen two common causes for this:

 1. Misbehaving SPI firewall in the router (it should be disabled, that's not dangerous if you use NAT); particularly, ZyXEL routers are known for this.

 2. Too large MTU setting on the router's WAN interface (can be fixed by adjusting MTU on the router or on the PC).

Probably sometimes Tanki connectivity problems may be caused by TCP window size auto-tuning, which was introduced in Windows Vista and Windows 7; however, I have no reliable statistics on this (it would be related to cause number 1). It's worth trying to disable auto-tuning or set it to "highlyrestricted".

Before adjusting settings, try to clear the Flash Local Storage (sometimes referred to as "Flash Shared Objects" or "Flash Player Cache"); there is a small chance that this will be enough.

Interesting info, but if this is needed for Tanki, I'd be worried!

Really, are you seriously telling people to disable their firewalls? Disable their SPI becasue......? Why again? NAT and SPI both have good and bad points, but one HUGE difference is that SPI can drop packets BEFORE they can cause problems, this can stop DoS attacks and syn flodding. NAT does not protect against that. Also read this:

SPI checks incoming packets to see if the packet matches a current session that is in the state table, among other things. In layman's terms, it checks to see if the return server packets were initially requested by your PC on the inside of the firewall. NAT firewalls, just open an IP and port from your PC to the server, which can allow a hacker to spoof the server's IP connectivity and connect to your PC.

So, disable SPI at your own risk!!!!!

The MTU setting advice is ok, but what are you recommending the MTU to be for Tanki to not have problems? I for example, have a router that handles Jumbo Frames of 9K just fine. My LAN runs GiG-E with all machines' set to MTU 9000 rather than 1500. It its very fast! As for the WAN, what are you recommending and why?

Thanks for the help

Generally this is not needed, but when it is, it also helps improve overall connectivity.

First, I'm talking about faulty firewalls. They sometimes are so badly implemented that routers freezes or reboots under not so heavy load, or the could detect an attack when there was not one. Sometimes firmware upgrade helps, sometimes not. When you have a firewall which denies you from playing tanki, most probably it denies you from something else.

Second, scenario you cited is highly unlikely. You are right, disabling firewall is on your own risk, but risk is quite small, much smaller than risk of ordinary Internet browsing. Of course, I'm talking about home users, not corporate ones.

And third, as I mentioned, this issue is probably related to Windows 7/Vista RWIN auto-tuning, which can be safely disabled or restricted.

Actually, that's not a Tanki problem, that's rather a problem with Internet providers and backbone operators which disable some kinds of totally legal ICMP traffic in order to avoid DoS attacks at low cost.

You should adjust MTU on your PC only if you can't adjust it on the router's WAN interface. Start with 576 (check if it has actually changed here), if this does not help, MTU tweaking would not help either (do not forget to restore the original value). If 576 works, set MTU to 1400, check the results; if at 1400 it stopped working again, try 1300, 1200, 1100, repeat reducing the number by 100 (but not lower than 576) until Tanki start behaving normally.

panzer-runner, please note that I replied to the particular problem (inability to go into the garage). In your case, as I see it from the other thread, the high packet loss can cause miscellaneous errors alone.

Alright... well i use google chrome and not IE so i dont think that's the problem but could it be that the hall of fame is messed up again???

Again? It was not fixed yet :)

Actually, it's not messed up completely – on a fast PC with at least 2 GB of memory you still have a chance to see it. Ignore the Chrome message ("plugin is not responding"), just wait. Try several times if it opens on the first line. Slightly scroll it with the mouse wheel when it opens empty, but on your position.

Yeah, thats what I thought in the first place, the packet loss is not the end of the world for many things, but for Tanki, 11% is horrible I guess. Next time I will traceroute it and see where the problem is, although in the past it has been on the hops once in Russia, I can't remember which segment.

Thanks for the info, but people really should wait and see if the connection issue clears up before they go and monkey with their MTU settings. On that subject... if crappy ISP's or backbone providers are using traffic shaping schemes that are interfering with Tanki, that sucks. It's the same argument as with P2P sharing traffic being purposefully dropped. Telling your local ISP wont help, unless they are the ones doing it.

BTW - Today everything seems normal again, lag / connection wise .. YAY!

For the record: The last couple days of problems seem better, and here is a traceroute during a time when I am having no connection / lag issues, notice the jump in latency once you get into Russia.

I'd say the jump between US and UK (or is it from VA to NY?) is much longer than that between Frankfurt and Moscow ;)

My tanki hasn't been loading... it opens up a page with "Adobe Flash Install" but i already have the current adobe flash required... any reasons or advice???

Your browser asks for Adobe? You may have one, but some browsers need another flash players. For example I have a simple flash player on my Chrome and Adobe flash player ActiveX on my Internet Explorer.

Sometimes I get the Adobe flash player message too on the same browser. However, sometimes after a day or two tanki works fine, even though I didn't download the new version. How come??? I always use Firefox for tanki, so if it were due to a different browser requirement, this isn't the case for me.
