i think ( not sure ) they take the battle fund and distributes them according to how many points or the ratio that you scored and if you 1st or 2nd... thats how i think it works

The battle fund is share through the score you have, you score through kills, capturing flag, getting flag back and heal. How much points you get for each kill, deepends on your rating and on your oponents rating .

 

It also deepends on capturing flags in ctf mode. If a team lost 10:0 will it not get any crystals, 10:1 will they get crystals.

 

The battle fun climbs through killings and flag capturing. A very active game will have a fast rising battle fund.
