Grrr! Why am I merging with another tank?!

Recommended Posts

Why is it that whenever I drive up to another tank and press against it for more than three seconds, my tank merges into the other one, making it impossible for anyone to move or fire? Has this happened to anyone besides me? I think it's mighty annoying when an enemy drives up and sees two or even three tanks all merged together in a neat and convenient, helpless package. One recent scenario when this was extremely irking (yes, go look it up in the dictionary) was when I was in the Silence map on the red team. I had taken the enemy flag and was driving down the steep and narrow ramp along the side of the map, when I ran into a teammate. Our tanks merged, and in utter helplessness and frustration, I tried to break free, only to merge further, while a freeze was freezing me up. So, we ended up tumbling off the edge, while my teammate whom I was merged up with started cussing up a storm in the chat. This problem has been plaguing me for quite a while. I don't remember this problem happening until recently. Have some changes been made which could have caused this?

actually i get this fairly often when im sniping with my railgun someone spawns into me and we get stuck but we usally unstick ourselves. i guess if it were lagging for a spilt second and pepending on you're tank you or he could drive under one another. unless you mean diagonally merged then the top player needs a recoil gun to get off. but this should not be happening often though how often is it happening to you in a match or a days play, and always when you bump a tank?

what tank bodies?

got a pic?

After playing today I noticed it happens most when I bump into another tank on one of it's corners (i.e. the front corner). Maybe could this be due to having a gap in the 3d tank "skin" around the edges? Sorry this might seem a little vague.

outta curiosity is it vikings and dictators you're getting stuck in?

they have the biggest gap in the middle from track spacing to hull in the front.

so you could just be getting stuck in that space with out glitch if using a lower tank body or at and angle.

and i probably should point out if it is constantly happening better email help@tankionline if it persist but send them a pic and make sure to tell them its not happening by the player spawning into you.

i have been seeing this happen to a few other players now that i thiink about it but the top player always shoots himself off.

ok its been brought to my attention this has been happening for some time now and to more than just viking and dictator so besides the obvious way to merge which is another bug "a player spawns into you from being a ghost" this is definitetly a bug and annoying one as some players without recoil guns are permanetly stuck together till death.

with 2.0 beeing worked on unless this persist it will more than likey be overlooked for the time being unless it persist so if you get stuck and the top player has a recoil gun you the top player needs to shoot it to get off or counter steer and try to move off one another if possible. is all that can be done at the moment.

if anyone has pics post them, a vid would be best, and please note if there was lag during the moment of occurence, it will help out if the tech decides it is in need of immediate fixing. or if it is merely a connection error causing the game engine to put both players in the same spot as it guesses player location when signal is lost and then resumed which is more than likely causing this.

perhaps there is a spot on the tank not coded correctly allowing another object also not coded correctly to drive into it. only thing i can think of.

edit yes what is the name of thay map i play on it occasionally buy dont like it.

Lag... You move around, the other guy moves to the same spot on the map, lag ends, both of you end up at the same spot, you get merged into each other.

Solution, everyone get a better internet. ))

What qualifies for a "good internet"? Recently we got a new router with a very fast connection. Average FPS in a game is around 20+. My computer has very high RAM, mega-bytes per second, and a good hard drive. Although it's not the newest model, it's about one or two years old.

i don't think it matters what we have i have a new imac top of the line fast internet connection i run 28 lowest to 45+ fps and i remeber this happening to me so unless the whole world buys future terminator computers this will probably still happen. or you could make it where the game engine cannot allow two tanks inside each of other if it registers two tanks in that typw of proximity it could just respawn the two tanks. that would solve it. if it were possible to code that is.

I think this problem doesn't have to do with internet connection speed or how fast your computer is. The more I think about it, the more I think it has to do with how the tanks are formatted and made. There may be 3d "skin" gaps in some of the tanks. You can often see these gaps on the terrain as well. I'll post some pics soon.

Bad connection for shooters is mostly assosiated with low ping and packet loss.
