Ok, so, i was in the topic "What did you last have for dinner", and saw this:

Biryani
.

As i don't know what it is, i think that it is interesting to know what is the most important food from your country. Explain it, as well.

Thanks

Ok, i'll start:

Chanfana: Lamb, or goat meat. It's made in a black bar jar. We put some wine in it, and it becomes black. Very good, very tender.

Leitão: Baby pig. Dunno how it's done. It's flesh is very good, and the skin very crusty (after cooked) XD.

Tripas: The tripes of pig. Very known in North of Portugal. I personally don't like it...

Cozido à Portuguesa: Mixture of LOTS of meats and puddings, with cabbadge, carrot, potato, rice and some chickpea. It's good, but don't normally eat it...

Ok, i guess those are the most known Portuguese foods. If i remember any other, i'll edit this one.

Keep posting your foods!

Hmm... This is Biryani

Biryani, biriani, or beriani (Nastaliq script: بریانی) is a set of rice-based foods made with spices, rice (usually basmati) and meat, fish, eggs or vegetables. The name is derived from the Persian word beryā(n) (بریان) which means "fried" or "roasted".

Biryani was originated in Iran (Persia) and was brought to South Asia by Iranian travelers and merchants. Local variants of this dish are not only popular in South Asia but also in Arabia and within various South Asian communities in Western countries.

From the uk:

Yorkshire Puddings: yorkshire-pudding-7.JPG This goes well in Roast Dinners (Sunday roasts)

Lancashire Hotpot: lancashire_hotpot.jpg It is a stew: I don't like it but it's traditional.

We have Fish and Chips: everyone knows what that is right?

And finally, we have Black Pudding.buy_scottish_black_pudding_from_online_butcher.jpg

This is made from Blood. Yes, from Blood: us brits are crazy. I've never tasted it but it's traditional.
