Railgun did not upgrade?

I upgraded my railgun to M1 earlier but when I fired it it seemed like it was not upgraded. Here are 2 pics:

 

 

You can see the bolt fired is not changed, I believe it should be purple, right? It also does not seem to do more damage. Also the engravings on the turret resemble those of an M1 railgun.

 

 

Here you can see I have an M1 Railgun.

 

Why is that? I tried un-equipping and equipping again but that did not work.

You Are Saying (From What I Have Read) That Your M1 Railgun Is Meant To Be An M1 Railgun............

 

The Colour Does Not Change Until You Upgrade It To M2.

Railgun M1 beam is light-blue, M0 is white. Purple is M2 and Orange/Red is M3.

 

That's a M1 Railgun so Mod can lock this.

for 1 u cant upgrade till another rank and that is what m1 rail gun looks like you can tell my the color and my the 1 strip on the front of the barrel when m2 comes around for u there will be two strips

I heard that if you press alt + F4 it upgrades your rail gun

ya, it works!! press alt F4 when you are at the garage and you get a rail M3 rail gun!!
