Clans: your attitude, their role, and loyalty

Recommended Posts

What is the aim of a clan? What should be your attitude to it?

For so many, a clan is a "hit-and-miss" experience. No-one shows any loyalty, and nobody will commit themselves to their clan for life or any long period of time. Instead, they join the clan that is going the strongest at that time. If that fails, then they join the next clan. No big deal.

Of course, for the leaders of the clan that are being messed around by this member, they are hardly happy. Just when they thought they had a new member, that member leaves, doing absolutely nothing for the clan. Not even fighting in one tiny clan war, or even coming on the clan xat.

Seriously, this has to end. Too many people are doing this, and no clan is really keeping it's members. Only the leaders stay, and even that is getting more and more rare. Clans should be all about COMMITMENT and LOYALTY. If you join a clan, you should be saying that you are joining it for life, and if you leave, it was a hard decision to make, with lots of reasons adding up to the fact that you are leaving. And the fact that "another clan is stronger" is not a valid reason.

Dudes, when you join a clan, the clan now is your tanki family, as it were. You are a community aimed at defeating the other communities. Not a group where you can have your banner up on the front page of the clan. So when you join a clan, you mean that you are committed to it. A clan is all about commitment. I know I am repeating this, but it is an IMPORTANT issue. Vital.

My plea is this: please stop all of this meaningless "clan-hopping". There is far too much of it about at the moment. We really need to show that us english-speaking members are MATURE and COMMITTED. We cannot show that we are weak, and enjoy this "clan-hopping": it is an appalling practise that brings distate to my mouth when I think about it. Choose a clan: stick with it: fight with it: make it your family: win wars with it, lose wars with it, in sickness or in health, in good or ill, STICK WITH IT! Whatever clan that might be (and I am not advertising a particular clan), make sure you are committed to it.

People, don't "clan-hop". Stick with one clan and make that clan your family. Commit yourself to making that clan the strongest english clan there is.

In my humble opinion,

A very well written piece and I agree with many of your points. However, sometimes, players have good reasons for clan "hopping". Some join a clan and it turns out to not be what they expected - are they supposed to stay if they are miserable? And the people who have grudges or a dislike of a clan member or policy, must they stick through it? While it may be honorable, Tanki is just a game and there is no reason to sacrifice one's own happiness in order to help one's "clan" if they feel that they do not belong.

In my also, humble opinion,

I agree with most of your points, but, as Crisios says, when you are not enjoying your clan, you can leave. However, i would avoid joining and leaving clans "every day" because "they're not as you thought they would be". Well written, and I agree with you on most points

In my also humble opinion

I agree with some of your points but what if the clan leader isn't active? We need him for clan wars and to make training...Ex.I am thinking of another clan like IC,DD,SS etc, because we are not playing like clan wars doing training etc.

P.s.What does humble mean?

I understand that sometimes this is the case. However, leaving the clan should be the last option that comes to mind, not the first. So many people have one problem with the clan they are in, then leave. That is the wrong attitude. Try to change your clan, convince your clan leader otherwise, fight for the clan, and, if that all fails, then only leave. Leaving should be the last possibility, not the first.

Some people like myself spent months in one clan. While others just spend a couple of days. After some months, those people get "blacklisted" from all the clans and I think those of you who are guilty of hopping-clans know it. Now the question is that what causes people to "hop-clans" IMHO, At the end of the day the player himself makes the decision. If one is not mature enough and not patient enough to earn the clan leader's respect then he's not supposed to be in a clan. A clan is not just a group of people who play together. It's more than that.

Loyalty to the clan is something hard to prove because it takes at least a month for one to make himself at home. Then more weeks to play with the clan and earn their respect. There are a lot of players in this community that have my respect and then there are some who.. well... you know. :P

I dont think you were very loyal by leaving SS...

Loyalty is not just how long you spend there, but how much you care for the clan. Just because you were in SS for a year-and-a-half doesn't make you loyal: it makes u more unloyal when you leave. But anyway, I respect your decision and am certainly not one to judge you for what you have/have not done.

I've been in every clan (except NeXus and Cookies)

I was kinda forced to leave because of the following reasons:

-I left SS because well, I felt like I wanted another clan...so I made a un_official clan.

-I canceled my Un_Official clan because we had many problems.

-I signed up at Rebellion, but people told me I was denied...so I...

-signed up at DD...I was accepted.

-I later found out that Rebellion actually accepted me, so I had to quit DD and join Rebels

-As I was in Rebels, I felt hated so I joined the Iron Clads.

I agree with skitee's first post. However, I think it is up to the players to come and go as they wish. As the saying goes: "You reap what you sow." If you spend a couple days in a clan then go "hop" somewhere else, obviously you won't be getting much out of that clan. People's actions portray the person's personality. As a "safeguard" against hopping, I think there should be rules which say that if you leave a clan, you can never come back, nor be a friend of clan.

Yes chriswu, but you seem to say that the individual's choice is more important than the clan. In my humble opinion, leaving a clan immediately after you leave it should not just be punished by a loss of respect, but more than that: maybe a ban from joining a clan for a month? Because the clan on the whole should be more important than an individual.

And, I don't like to ask, but I'm asking this: Can this be moved to the clans section and stickyed? I don't like asking, but, considering the amount of positive replies this has had, I'm making one request.

in a week or two they asked me if he was coming back i said "FFS its koolwalky of course hes coming back"

as for dark sasuke she made another clan long ago with a dif leader or she was the leader but i'm not sure

what the name was but that clan also got canceled due to a misargment
