It will not be a machine gun. Shaft is a logical continuation of a railgun. There's already been a number of discussion topics that laid out the basic premises of the gun, it will be a sniper rifle type thing, potentially with a scope and with a required warm-up before shooting, railgun-style. There is also specualtion that it will shoot through the walls, although of course any damage would be attenuated, but it is hard to say which of these ideas will ned up making it into the initial version of the gun.
