CUSTOM MAPS

This has probably come up before but could we have a simple tile based Stage maker

The idea

1) Set Land scape height/Add Holes

2) Set Landscape texture

3) add Objects (Buildings, Walls Ramps ect)

4) Set spawn Points

5) copy code to use when making battle (Where we would set battle options a paste box)

6) Play - at this point the server could just generate the

map and hand it out to the clients like any other map

so everyone, what do you think?

ps. To devTeam : I wouldn't care how simple the editor is even a 2d Editing view of the map is cool

ps. A main thing should be an anti "Noob map" where it fillters out levels with no effort put into them.

there is a map editor. there is a map making team (where you think the maps come from). most maps submitted dont pass either the quality or content selection process. maybe 1 out of 50. its not as simple as you describe to add maps to the game. many technical factors to consider.

I know there are technical factors but im sure "tanki online" could handle them.

This is the best online flash game I have ever seen

quality or content selection process

the graphics could be pre-made by "tanki"

the user will be up to "level design"

this shouts out hackers to me...also the person making it will obviousley give them selves an advantage...so yea lol.

Why hackers? what is there more to hack than before?

And im pretty sure other players would figure out what

the advantage is and so could just copy them in combat

well after a battle in a map ppl could vote if they like it and if 75% ppl dont like it devs can erase(just my idea)

this is a good idea but has been done before and misrably fails.(People vote for them selves)

besides, when a stage is removed (I think when there are no players for a while)

then the map gets removed with it so no clogged up noob levels on the server.

While the original creater of the map has a code that can be entered when a game is "Created"

and the map will be there again.

-----------------------------------------------------

:!: WARNING NERDY CONTENT BELOW :!:

-----------------------------------------------------

A sample of this imaginary code could be like

=============

AAAAABBAAA;

AAAAABBAAA;

AAAAABBAAA;

AABBBBBAAA;

AABBAAAAAA;

=============

representing the tile texture and so on...

=============

Spawn:23,65,23;

=============

(A spawn point)

then when all code put togther represents a map

when a player enters a stage the code is transfered to their end,

and uses the code to build the map as we know one

So over all only a small amount of extra space is needed on the servers to use this

ps. Sorry if you don't get what I mean,

I find it hard to explain to people what I am thinking :?:

Have you seen the amount of code needed for a map? It's about 11 A4 pages long in an xml file, longer in other formats I would expect. And then that is just one of the million issues. No, no, no, never, never, never. What kind of quality of maps will we get? Even for experienced map-makers, only 2% or so get through. The map committee will have far too much work if this is done. No way.
