Hacker Removal Solution

Due to the MASSIVE increase in hackers joining the game, I think tanki may want to create a new solution.

 

Many people in here, including myself, would be more than happy to volunteer for a restricted type of Moderation that only allows for the Removal of Hackers in-game.

 

There are currently not enough mods to manage the problem, and not everyone wants to be a mod (like myself) but would like to see the game return to fair play.

 

So if you decide to create a restricted mod that can provide this service to the community on behalf of tanki, please feel free to count me in, along with MonkeyMagic, who also volunteered.

It doesn't have to be a permanent solution, sometimes militia's need to be organized during trying times and viral outbreaks. They disband when the threat is over.

 

Think outside the box kool.

 

At the very least it can be a temporary / 24 hour removal, and final full rights removal can be left up to the mods. Everyone removed must be posted to a list for review and I am sure game records can validate the removal.

 

Most of the time they are low rank and have quadruple the point value of any of the other players 10 minutes into the game.

 

Completely manageable.

Sorry to say, but I don't think it's a very good idea though I can see the good intentions here and agree whit them. Possible reasons:

 

1. The restricted Mod type you think of would be very hard to define imo. The one who has the rights to warn/ban/disconnect a hacker also must have the rights to ban a regular player. I can't think of any reasonable rock solid solution to make a clear distinction between those two. Basically a hacker is still a player. A very irritating one, but still...a player.

 

2. Empowering a large amount of players with such account types will be like an invitation to abuse. I can imagine the aftermath that follows. Everyone accusing everyone of hacking the battle and applying the ban hammer just because they can. Think of the average age of the players in this game. I think that the definition of hacking will shortly be rewritten with words like "You shoot me! Killed me! You must be a hacker, there's no way you could do that otherwise...". Therefore chaos. Being dispassionate about this is a hard thing to achieve by many in-game players.

 

3. Even if it will be possible, the selection process for accepting those new kind of players whit limited rights would be a cumbersome long one due to the very high number of potential candidates. A lot of "Mod wannabes" will show up from nowhere claiming their good reliability therefore their eligibility to have the ban hammer, even whit limited rights.

 

4. Some sort of in-battle mass vote by others solution would not work as well because ultimately it will come down to regular Mods meaning nothing's changed unless some of the regular players don't abuse it, which is actually worse.

 

5. A new "anti-hacker" feature/module developed by Alternativa for the "new breed" that you speak of will do nothing but drain the developer resources towards delivering this instead of actually fixing the game issues. Why not lay the axe to the root of the tree?

 

Bottom line is that I think it's up to the developers. Right now, there's nothing we can do but report them, unfortunately.

In battle telling me I shouldn't sit in a place. (you know because you bought a mammoth and for some reason it gives you a feeling of power)

Even though sweetheart I've been playing this game far longer than you. 2nd account ;)

To which I told you where to go.

 

You then thought I was a kid.

So you mouthed off about kids.

 

You then thought I was Scottish.

And started mouthing off about Scottish.

 

You then thought I was unemployed

And mouthed off about those.

 

And I'm a quite old self employed Englishman my love.

 

 

So really no. Its just that your a complete..

And often wrong.

OR we can realize that there are limited resources both with Tanki as a business, its developers and with the number of moderators vs. amount of hackers currently in the game.

 

Creating a militia until those resources can become available is a completely viable solution. It can be disbanded once a permanent solution can be created.

 

Man, I thought everyone in here considered themselves both a tactician and a strategist. Apparently creativity is dead when it comes to winning battles.

 

If this were an actual war, most of you would bend over and say you are outnumbered and sit around and wait for special forces to arrive.

 

Each mod has more than enough relationships with people they can trust that they could bring at least 10 people into the program that would follow the rules of this program. Each one could manage its own group and be responsible for its actions.

 

Essentially you could turn 10 into 100 over night and push back / pressure these individuals trying to take over the game. Unfortunately you think more about the height of the hurdle than you do just jumping over it or going around it to come to a viable solution.

 

It really is not that hard people. 1000 ways to skin a cat.

 

So for every problem you think is insurmountable, I can come up with a way to manage it (probably more than 1 way). There are naysayers, and those that don't see problems as insurmountable, what type of person are you?

im glad someone has started a thread about a solution as there needs to be something done about it. other than just put up and shut up, the problem i think is you have an open code base were anyone can download the 3d game engine, and with some time and knowledge create a little program to mess with maps and basically destroy the game we love, its really hard to patch a problem when everyone has your game code, and they can just patch it right back with a new hack. as they have the same code as you.

 

People have said you can buy these hacks on-line for real money, so take these guys out selling it, they have declared war on tanki declare war on them. bring there sites down, there servers what ever it takes.

 

1. make all the hacks available to everyone who plays tanki, so they go right out of buissiness overnight. and if everyone has the cheats, if they see someone start doing it they can to and thus have a way to disrupt the script kiddies and take back control of the game.

 

2. get tanki to support walkouts, if someone starts cheating before they destroy the game just leave on mass, everyone standing together and walking out the game, if they have no one to kill no xp no crystals no point in hacking. yes its gonna mess your xp up and the crystals, but whats the point in any of it if noobs and cheats can just walk in your game and steal everything you have worked so hard for.

 

It would also be realy good to hear the develops side of things and what there going to do about it, maybe just saying hay all were aware of the problems and were working hard to fix them on the front page, so people know they care.

 

anyway thats my rant and 2 penny's worth.

 

anything is worth a try or the donations are going to go away and so will the game, who will want to buy crystals when you can steal everyone else's! for the price of a hack.

their must happen something indeed, its way out of control..

if only the dev team would tell how tanki 2.0 is doing and what their problems are...

 

otherways koolwalky needs a power boost;)

wont help to give evry one kick powers.

we need to scare the hackers of! we cant beat them at their game, they rule tanki

 

but giving mods the acces to ip bans and high speed bans (their awsome)

and above all: since the hackers juse low ranked accounts but have skils they must have a real gam eacount too..

through ip tracking that account can be banned too, just aanouching yu can do this should fear a lot of them back

 

this strategy should work again right? (if more ideas are needed, i have seen it befor;))
