Maps don't load - I have a grey screen instead.

I can't figure why some maps and games load and some don't. To me it looks like a random thing happening but most of the time before a map loads all I see is a grey screen which freezes on me completely. I played some old maps and some new maps today and this is happening on both types. I can still create a map so I am guessing I am not banned for any reason but even with only me playing some times the screen is also grey.

 

Should I wipe out my web browser's cache?

me too.. i encounter this gray screen..(and cannot counted by fingers.) and the game around still continues.. i force to leave the map and my precious score. :( :( :(

it happens when u try the new maps so if u using firefox or chorme open new tab and do this ctrl+shift+delete

and check the cache and coockies and press enter/ok

that will slove it

No way, on Mac, Safari or Camino browser have same issue. I Delete All Flash cache in Flash Control Pane and now works OK with all map. I have set in Flash preference for Local storage = Unlimited and for Tanki site this is almost 100Mb for now. And, I dont know how to do on Win.

I have this issue as well, but only on Scope-map as far as I know.

It did work once though, then I played other maps and then Scope map never load completely.

Just wait a couple seconds should load within 60 seconds if it doesn't just refresh the page it's just the game images being simulated.

Admins - so what's the solution to the problem? Do you even acknowledge that the problem exists or your company making way too much money as it is and you don't want us to spend anything on the game anymore?

If you don't want to wipe your entire collection of flash-cookies, cache and stuff, just delete manually... 8)

 

Windows (OS used is Windows 7 64-bit, but steps should be somewhat the same on XP and Vista)

(Not sure it is needed, but close any tanki-server tab/window you have open, maybe even close the web-browser.)

 

First you need to figure out your APPDATA directory...

open a command-prompt(WIN+r type "cmd" without the quotes)

type "echo %APPDATA%" and it will return something like C:UserstestxtestxtestAppDataRoaming

 

Lets go to the tankionline.com directory

navigate to the appdata-directory with your file-manager.

once there, enter the following directories MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects

you should now be at C:Users[YourUserName]AppDataRoamingMacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects

here you will see a directory made of random characters like 24X4JWEP, enter it.

scroll down to the directory tankionline.com and enter it, you should see a lot of files that start with 0000000000

 

Start the cleaning

to make user error less likely, make a new directory, call it Backup or whatever you like.

move all files that start with all the zeros to the Backup directory you just made.

all that will be left now is a directory called Backup and one called AlternativaLoader.swf and one file called localstorage.sol

 

Start the web-browser and try and join a battle, things should work again. If it does, delete the Backup directory if you want to save some space.

It is probably likely that not all files has to be removed, but I don't feel like guessing which one(s) are the cause when TankiOnline could publish that info if they wanted to.

All in all, forcing the users to clear the cache and redownload lots of contents will make the bandwidth(tankionline-servers) peak for some time so I guess they are trying to figure out the cause... :roll:

I'm sure this fix works, but this is happening way too often for me! Every day almost, i need to clear cache manually or search for a fix in the forums. Not looking good. Not good at all.

Could it be that you use some bookmarks with &enablelocalstorage=1 or follow the link without closing the game first?
