I totally disagree, it is a test server. All weaponry and hulls should be accessible. In fact, I think rank should not be of any concern in a test server UNLESS you want to limit the ranks of individuals from the actual game into the test server. For example, if you want to say Colonel and above can access the test server to help provide feedback on new weapons in testing, I would have no problem with that.

 

Ranking up through the test server is just an exercise in futility, as time spent ranking up is less time spent reviewing and providing feedback for a weapon.

 

Crystals are of little value in their also. There should be no need to purchase weapons, just pick them up and try them out. The value of the test server is to limit buyers remorse and encourage more players (potential paying customers) to go down a purchase path for a weapon.

 

From a business standpoint, your opinion makes ZERO sense. It just makes it more of a hassle for people to provide valuable feedback, when it could be just as easy to post on the splash page of tanki that the test server is open for "x-rank" and above for weapons testing. Then have a set of criteria to be tested for each person that accesses the test server.

 

Inefficiency for the sake of inefficiency is by no means a good plan of action.

Actually eessydo, we wanted people to test the gun on and disabling the addscore command and putting up lower limits for the gun helped a lot to accomplish that. Everyone is able to get shaft after an hour of play.

Apart from that if one is able to contact the devs or admins they'll get score added to their accounts in a second.

 

The main reason to make shaft out of reach of people who just joined the test server was to allow the test to be mostly, *staff only* for the first couple of days, after that the rank got reduced to corporal and now it's not that much of a problem.

 

 

I agree that my opinion makes zero sense but the devs definitely had something in mind when doing this.

 

*Closed testing wouldn't help much because everyone would have shaft at closed testing, open testing just made target practice easier.*

Once you get up to that rate it gets easier to play and rank up.

The only reason I can see for ranking up, is to have fodder for target practice. No other reason for that, but the downside is that players that get on the test server much later than others then have a hard time ranking up to test out the weapon. As I said in my previous thread, that is valuable time that could be spent providing feedback instead of shooting twins and firebird for a couple of hours.

 

The test server needs to be rethought IMO. Should have a phased system for testing new turrets and hulls.

 

1. Devs

2. Mods

3. "beta" testers

4. High-level ranks

5. Free-for-all

 

 

Groups 1 - 3 would be REQUIRED to provide feedback and would have a set of instructions to follow for testing. Might be nice if they provided a "Shooting range" just as they have a Jump Test where you can target specific hulls both with and without shields.

 

Group 4, it is PREFERRED they provide feedback (in-fact it is a good pool for selecting people for the "beta" testing group).

 

The free-for-all is the opportunity for everyone to get acquainted with the weapon to limit "buyers remorse" syndrome, as a customer retention program to limit potential paying customers from leaving because they hate their weapon.

 

Pretty simple plan if you ask me.

And the ironic thing is that shaft sucks and is difficult to aim with. Scoping in and firing should require 2 different keys, not the same one.

this target practive yu speek of doesn't sound handy or fair to me, if yu jusk tell evryone wich weapon they have to use they will do it

(banning if they dont helps too;)). that will give real live tests

yu should have evryone testing it. whiles testers and mods etc are testing it too in privat maps.

this gives a clear image of all the problems and speeds things up a lot. just as is done on sites like atmosphir.

 

its not fair to keep al the funn too jurselves while we are waiting (coming this june pffh, it should say comming at the beginning of july!)

yu guys are worse then the telephone companies.

First of all, I already got shaft. Second of all, what message? Third of all, the majority of the games that I leave are from the stupid "connection closed by sever" error; bit surprised that the developers haven't mentioned anything about fixing that bug now.

Btw, I don't use shaft on the test sever anymore, I mainly use M1 Ricochet.

 

Edit: Test sever is offline, so this thread is pointless.

I have decided you like to argue for the sake of arguing, it is your MO. Problem is, if you would just read instead of being so argumentative, you might save yourself a TON of typing.

 

Rarely do I see you present ideas, only respond to ideas in an argumentative fashion that most of the time you haven't taken the time to read from top to bottom.
