Just a few minutes ago i got to play against a team with 1 M3 shaft (Sepurhov Red Team).

Quite fair team, we ended up 9-7 (me win  ). He couldnt do absolutly nothing, i owned him with my thunder and same did the railguns from my team. Maybe Serphov red team isnt suited for shaft, but as long as i could see, M3 Shaft isnt worth the crystals it costs. Just few maps are good for it and a shaft player doesnt help much his team... btw its a good weapon for killing, but not for winning battles or earning crystals

yeah exactly its not supposed to! its designed to be a longrange sniper' date=' not to capture flags [/quote']

Ik, but with shaft you can play succesfully very few maps, and in CTF/TDM you have to be in a strong team. Any other tier2 weapon is better imho.

More feedback: Stadium, my thunder owned shafts M0 - M3. Even in the "sniper" map shaft isnt that cool... am I the problem or is Shaft? :-)

I just played in the Duel map against a shaft m3 with viking m2. I had m1 viking and m3 railgun.

Results: The poor guy left after I destroyed him 10 times in a row without taking a single shot myself. Shaft is NOT a good choice in small maps!

obviously hahahahah, and who says shaft is useless for your team, i destroyed all of them as they attempted to come up and take our flag.

If the players were not complete n00bs, they would listen to the sound of your shaft charging and overheating. Then, they would attack.

Fortunately for you, they were complete amateurs.

its a silence game, theres only about 20 people on the same map. and the fact that they are half the map away from me, they can't even hear me, let alone touch me. they weren't noobs, just not as high ranked hahahaha, and i shot my fair share of lieutenants and other high ranks

I have a shaft m2 and I have to agree that really the shaft is only the most helpful in silence. As you can guard pretty well from certain vantage points. It is true though that it isn't much of a "team" weapon, I own all the different guns in tanki and shaft is definitely the least helpful in most degrees to a team. (Except in Silence as I said)

With shaft you can only help your teammates so much. It's mainly because of the fact you have to be stationary all the time in order to shoot. So there aren't as many cover points to follow along with a defensive or offensive strategy.

I found this on the Russian side of the forums, discussing whether people liked shaft or not, this is the response one of the moderators replied with-

"Бессмысленная тема, мы его специально сбалансировали так. чтобы он нормально вписался в текущее вооружение. У нас и не было задачи сделать нагибатора или релю м4, чтобы он абсолютно всем нравился. Потому и будут всегда довольные и не довольные этой пушкой. Так было и будет со всем пушками танков. Т.к. мы делаем игру, а не пытаемся кому-то угодить."

TRANSLATION:

"This is a pointless topic, we specifically balanced the gun this way, to conform with the current game mechanics. We tested it and loved everything. Therefore, there will always be people happy and not happy with this gun. It is this way with all the other guns and tanks. Since we are making a game, rather than trying to please everyone."

-Aleksandr Rogozhnikov

I guess they don't care about the players' opinions, just how THEY wanted it....wow. (of course, this is a translation and may be incorrect, but thats the gist of it)

Here is the problem with shaft.

If you take two EQUAL teams in skill and weaponry at the end of the day it is nothing more than a supplemental gun with a high price tag.

If the other team has nothing but pre-existing tier 2 weaponry and rail guns instead of shaft and your team has shaft then here is the bottom-line:

1. Having 1 of them on your team is fine,

2. having 2 (unless M3 with the shorter reload), the scales can start tipping.

3. Having 3 Shaft on your team, and the scales start to seriously tip in the direction of the other team.

All of this is primarily due to shafts in ability to move in the firing screen.

I think that is why the gun has so many detractors at this point. For a weapon that is supposed to be the next generation, you would think that having more of them in game would tip the scales of gameplay towards the team with the most Shaft units, not with the least.

Also from a business perspective, you would think that you would like to encourage more players to buy the gun and purchase crystals to upgrade it quickly. Right now, anyone thinking of going down that path getting it at M0 and M1 makes them regret their purchase.

It makes no sense both from a gaming and business perspective.

I can recommend any weapon from isidia through rico, but this one I am struggling to recommend to anyone. That limits the potential for revenue for tanki overall.

So telling the community that they don't care because they are the designers just makes me laugh.

From a business perspective, they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

So my proposal to tanki would be this either:

1. Lower the price tag to make it more palatable (would recommend making it cheaper than Thunder at M3) OR

2. Give it the ability to move while in targeting mode (justifying the higher price tag)

That is all that needs to happen.
