English speakers how can we keep our forum hot and exciting?

I've been going through the russian forum and those tankmen are really rocking with activity. Just wanted to give some motivarion to the english forum users too. By 'rocking' i mean taking active part in all the contests, discussions , making their own newspapers jus to mention a few. Just give a shout out if you've got some bright ideas.

The total amount of English players has definitely increased in some months but the problem is that most English players don't recognize the importance of taking part in the game forums. :(

 

A coupe of suggestions.

 

• The clan rules are currently sync'd with the Russian clan rules, thus increasing the minimum rank requirement to 3rd Lieutenant. Although the active and social English players are just around Warrant Officer ranks, Similar with the clan leader requirement at Major. Perhaps reduce the clan leader requirement to 1st Lieut, and the members requirement at Warrant Officer 3 until we get some clans going.

• There have been a lot of discussions about the English clans taking part in a clan championship within the English clans, not including the Russian clans because they are way better than us. This was easily proved when the two English clans of Shadow Strikers and Dare Devils got easily beaten by nWo.

• The English players are not interested in the forums because they think it's just a wall of text and nothing else. Even as a Forum moderator I'll agree to the fact that the forum is not fully organized at the moment with only around 2 active Forum mod. So yes, we need more Forum mods and this time from the active community of the Forums.

• There are a lot other problems as well, forum games section, a section for ideas, testers from the English community, consultants, all these things, we are missing.

 

I agree that this could have been sent in a private message, but I felt better this way.

Yeah I mean, we just need more sections. We have multiple topics in the "Off-Topic Discussion" but no organisation whatsoever. Perhaps topics such as "forum games", "world news", "tanki blog", and other relevant themes may be added?

a lot of the posts here are asking for help due to payment matters etc. fact is the email help@tankionline is almost pointless. why have you not set up a ticket number for this. you are lucky to get a reply within a week. not even an automated reply showing acknowledgement of mail. something thats simple to set up.

 

also there is just one email address! so some noob asking stupid questions is in the same cue as a player that has paid 100 bux for crystals and not received them. different emails for different problems - or at least a fast track email for payment issues......

Sadly, even Russians don't get any tickets when addressing help@.

I think one way of keeping the forum alive and happening is to have more contests. Till now there has been just one contest that I can see in the english forum. Secondly, everyone want crystals, so if we have contests with a generous prize, many people with participate. For e.g. I saw a contest called Miss Tanki in the russian forum. This is the contest that will attract most views and answers. BELIEVE ME!!!

Well, i've heard many Russian admins/mods know english, well at least some, anyways they should pay attention to english forum to, it'll help us be more spam free, and more organized as more mods are here to help. Plus, with mods from other parts of the world our questions can be answered alil sooner ;)

I said this before and I'll say it again. Imo the whole forum software platform should be changed. The current JForum version is poor on features not to mention that some of them are disabled by devs due to security issues. It's not an irony but more like constructive criticism. There are thousands of forum solutions out there far more enhanced than this one. Some of them provide a lower security risks while others are famous for not doing quite so. Some have open APIs and are open source licensed others are not. Bottom line there's plenty to choose from. And I really think that changing it will bring a complete breath of fresh air in the tankers community. By doing this the amount of work on the active forum Mods will grow exponentially and inevitably, more Mods will be needed. Posts/topics/user accounts migration should not be so complicated...

 

P.S.

How come the arabic version has vBulletin and we're stuck with JForum? I mean isn't that forum officially supported by tankionline since its address was promoted here a while ago? Just asking..
