More English players on Tanki Online

It would be great to have more english speakers playing on Tanki Online. For example during the game we could chat in english lang... Currently the situation is pathetic because one has to choose between using google translator or playing silently while others chat and enjoy their way through the game.

So i suggest we do something to help our situation like inviting all our friends, classmates, colleagues, teammates, brothers and sisters into the game

There are many ways to do this and you can even earn "Crystals" in just for inviting someone

How to invite

1. Use the "add friend" button next to the "Garage" button, press "invite by email" , the more friends you invite the more crystals* you will earn Forever!

2. You can join http://www.facebook.com/TankiOnline.en and send the link to your facebook friends.

3. You can tell them face to face.

So its all up to us.

Will be waiting for your positive comments :)

If players can earn free crystals through inviting friends why would they buy crystals. This has nothing to do with money now. English players lose in Cybersport (that's if they even qualify) because their tanks are not upgraded enough. Invite friends, earn free crystals, upgrade and go for marshal so that when 2.0 comes you'll be by then strongest clan leader.

Well, there are a ton more Russian speaking players than English, so it will stay that way since this game originates from Russia. I also agree with Wafje. Won't the auto translator let us talk to everyone? We could always use more players no mater where they are from, though.

One thing to help would be to make the game more newbie-friendly. A lot of my friends have given up, because they got bored by the lack of exiting graphics/lack of weapons/lack of cool paints at newbie ranks. I know that you want rewards for higher ranks, but I would suggest:

-Maps like Polygon, Ping-Pong, Fort Knox II, Massacre, and Fort Knox III going back to the newbie ranks like they once were. When you moved Polygon to Recruit ranks, I know for a fact that you probably won people over and kept them playing tanki by the fact that they realised there was better map props out there. If you get the Iran props at the lowest ranks, then loads of newbies will stay, I'm sure.

-Have an option of paints to start with. How about being able to choose to start with Red, Green, or Blue paint? And the added option of "Black" and "White" for five crystals, still at recruit.

-Again, an option of weapons and tanks will help newbies to enjoy it. Nerf Titan and Twins somewhat, and have the option of three weapons/tanks to start with. It will be a hard thing to change, I know, but the fact is that it will win people over in the long-term.

-And then make two/three more weapons unlocked by Staff Sergeant. Tanks aren't so important, but having a wide variety of weapons will make newbies enjoy the game more. I know this will be hard, but again it will be worth it.

-Is immediate playing such a great thing? Most other games have a sort of tutorial beforehand. Maybe being able to get a couple of kills against computerised tanks and getting your garage going (with the suggestions above) before going into battles against others would be better.

-More detailed controls. I'm not sure if this has now changed with the new loading symbols, but having pop-ups on the screen saying things like "Press Z and X to turn turret" and "Press Page Up and Page Down to change camera view" will seriously help newbies to grasp the controls. One of my friends had so little idea of the controls that he spent his first ten minutes playing trying to get his character out of his tank. Not surprisingly, he didn't even rank up to Private.

-Focus more on Newbies with updates. The existing players will not like it, but the fact is that you will get more players by being more newbie-friendly. For a fact I know that I was extremely close to giving up tanki before Staff Sergeant. After that, far less people leave tanki. If you manage to make tanki so that newbies stay to staff sergeant, then I am sure they will stay all the way up to the higher ranks.

-It would help to make loading faster for newbies, but I'm not sure how possible that is.

Of course, these are only my opinions and I do not expect these all to be implemented into tanki. But these are things I would do to make tanki more newbie-friendly than it is at the moment.

I am English and enjoy playing with people from all countries. I try to message during game, but sometimes come across non-english speakers. I used to be able to copy and paste their comments into google translate to help ... but now it won't copy the chat text, only the name. Can something be done about that? Autotranslate would be good but google translate works well enough... it is fun trying to guess which country players are from.

Sorry, never used a forum before so hope this appears in the right place!

I use google for hello/goodbye - hope it translates properly ;-) ... but would be much easier if I could copy and paste comments as you can in the server chat area. Even if I don't join in, it is so interesting to see what other people are saying... and good to see the other languages.

The only other thing I could think of is advertising. People seeing it on popular websites, TV, etc. This would cost some money, though, and it might not be worth it. I would imagine that Tanki would be more popular then.

A good idea would be to separate certain servers according to languages.

Example:

1-3 = International (All Languages)

4-6 = Russian Language Only

7-8 = English Language Only

8+ = Other Languages

It wouldn't solve the problem completely, but it would be a great start.

english servers we have, like: servers that are rulled by english clans.

and servers that are rulled by russian clans.

my squad and i jusually take over server 15 or 16;)

your not gona get more english players like this, update grafics, come with 2.0 and then yu get publicity from all off us on facebook, hyves, twitter and so onn, then peopel come cause it looks cool.

now its out dated, good for the peopel who are already player, we dont really mind. yu get used to it.

but when yu have player games like Modern Warfare 2 and then go back to tanki it looks nicely said: old.

your intentions are good but your battle plan has tomanny holes, we cant go inn warr like that.

:) You couldn't have said it better..... i agree with the fact that the product needs some upgrading to look good ( TO 2.0 is coming in the near future ) but before then we shouldn't sit back and do nothing abt it. Thats why at least am doing something abt it. Can't see nothing wrong with that

(oops, above is a quote, but messed it up!)

Absolutely agree - keep it international, that is what is so good bringing all languages and people together.

But will in game chat be translatable in 2.0 or will it be pretranslated by the software?

The thing is, I found TankiOnline through 1 website that I happened to visit which led me to this awesome game.

I'm suggesting that maybe you guys at Tanki HQ could pay websites to advertise you. Like Facebook for example. It's flooding with 13-14 year olds, and they wouldn't mind playing a game of Tanki.
