Moderator Need Complaint

Instead of making more moderators' date=' make a chat filter system that actually [u']works[/u], and instead of pointlessly banning people, just make the message with inappropriate words not show up. Also, if a player says the same thing more than 2 times in a row, have the system auto block the next time he/she says the same message. Lastly, have 1 actual moderator appointed to each server to take care of people that know how to avoid the filter or people that break rules such as asking for passwords. Normally, chat moderators shouldn't be playing the game, but I know tanki doesn't want to pay 20 Moderators for sitting in a server with like 100 people.

 

Well, I've seen systems like this in some games but considering Tanki has separate chats in each battle and so many servers with so little people... I just don't think this will be solved easily.

Just get used to it, any online game will have trolls, hackers, abusers, and most obviously; people who break chat rules. If you don't like such people, don't play online games.

 

Sure you can make the profanity go but that can be evaded. I'm saying that even though there may be a lot of moderators there should be more to fill in the spaces of time that lets the Rule violators roam free. I'm not trying to say they're doing a bad job. they're doing greatly but it would be nice to know that a moderator will be there when the players need him/her and so the community will be safe for young children. I look up to moderators because they're good people. I just want to help them out.

As for the filters. Filters can be bypassed easily, Just by creative spelling and using words from other fonts. Yes, its that easy.

I am pretty sure a filter can be programmed to block these slang, creative spellings and swear words in other languages. And you can find a good programmer that has the time to come up with all these creative spellings, and it would be a big help even though it wont be possible to block absolutely everything. The filter is in a script that says what the blocked words are and how the player will be punished. What needs to be done is to increase this list of blocked words, and instead of warning/banning the player, just stop the whole message from being sent and give the player a system message saying that he/she said an inappropriate word..etc. Lastly, the moderators job will be to warn/ban players that do manage to pass the filter with inappropriate content or stuff like asking for passwords..etc.

I honestly dislike the banning system in this game, I mean 5 minutes won't do anything, especially since the player can still play the game. If your trying to avoid kids seeing such messages, it doesn't really help because by the time moderators ban the player, these kids would have time to read over the message. Twice.

 

The real thing that has to change, is the attitude of the players, and I know from previous experience, such will never happen.

Hello Koolwalky, I want to become a Chat Moderator, but I sent you one message and the answer was: NO ! Need to be 21+ for it. But have the rules changed ? Cause I'd really prefer being a moderator. I've translated the rules to my own language: Dutch, so if someone does something of where I think it is wrong, I can push ctrl+f and search for the rule that he/she violates. Badly enough my Chat history is not THAT good, but I really wanted to do the best that I could, like helping people with hackers. I ask for a trial to become a moderator, and maybe I can be a moderator on server 4 ? If Dingus or you aren't already on that server. Please let me know, bye !

I agree it's extremely easy. So easy in fact, a simple-minded fellow can bypass just by typing too fast and makes an error.

We do need more moderators by the fact that a machine or filter can't stop them. Only people can.

It behavior does change in fact. Just in few subtle ways... just that many or some of which are negative. The positive things are there are some people who are not part of this arrogant population. Those that are mature enough to have a responsibility such a moderator deserve it... unless they don't want to of course.

About your suggestion about moderators on appointed servers.

Poor mods! I pity the mods that will be assigned to small servers like server 19! That system won't work. Mods are players too. Appointing a mod to moniter a specific server all the time would be no fun at all for that particular player.

the ban only works in the chat? if yes, then I do not find very effective. the player should be unable to play for the time determined by the mod. I once saw a brigadier or marshal (can not remember well) be downgraded to MAJOR. that was pretty cool KKKK. :lol: :lol:

I remember hearing about things like that. I find that extraordinary and amazing. It can be harsh but it is effective. I can't disagree with their methods. It is not used much and that's a good thing. I forget. What is it used for? I'd like to know. Thanks.
