How To Make Your Topic(s) More Appealing

I've been seeing a lot of topics lately, there all fine and all but, some you know. You just lost interest half way there, have you ever got the feeling before?

Like a long thread where words are all squished together like a wall of text so you lose interest. I'm sure the OP wants the topic to be discussed right?

Well if you can make your posts good and appealing to the eye, you'll stop losing so much audience, or even gain some!

 

Number 1. The Title

 

This may be the most important step yet, people want to know what your talking about.

You do not want this title to be crappy. The title gives the reader a 1st impression

For Example:

 

Title: i love this!

 

This is an example of a crappy title, you love what? Be more specific and make it look better.

Your statement of "i love this" doesn't enable readers to discuss about anything and can lead to criticism

Make it look better!

 

Title: I love Tanki! What about you?

 

This makes it more specific and allows readers to discuss more, also allowing readers to know what your talking about and get a good 1st impression

 

Number 2. Grammar!

You must have a good grammar or at least something readers can understand, if you substitute and delete stuff readers will be lost and have absolutely no idea what in the world your talking about

 

a) Shortcuts

Example: Hy m4n! H0w u d0in?

gd, u?

i gon gd 2! cya l8t3r!

 

Can you really understand it? Maybe a little but it really makes it annoying and also makes you look lazy.

If you want to take shortcuts? Fine, but at least try to make them understandable.

b.) Capitalizing

This isn't really one of the big issues but capitalizing can make your sentence look better.

Once again, not a big issue but worth mentioning

 

c) Punctuation!

This is common sense.

If you want to ask questions, put question marks.

State something or command? Period

Show emotion? Exclamation marks

Not much to be said here.

 

Number 3. Spacing

Squishing text together is really not a good idea when its combined with horrible grammar

Pretty much big wall of text, probably half of you didn't bother reading it really or skimmed it really fast. I mean i wouldn't read that. Thats just like a huge paragraph that looks like spam.

I don't think any of you is writing that crappy, ethier that or I haven't seen you before :lol:

 

To start off you can really put the supposed letters and stop taking stuff out! It makes words more understandable. The next above looks like gangster writing from a douche that dropped out of high school.

 

To help with your "Big wall of text".

 

Separate it into paragraphs! You can also use indents but it doesn't make much of a difference.

Don't be afraid to press the Enter button a few times! It doesn't have teeth! It won't bite you! .... Or will it.

Number 4. Color! & Font

 

Now were getting into the decorative part

 

a) Color

 

Adding color to text can make it more appealing.

Also adding variety and decoration!

Adding color catches the eye and will encourage readers to read highlighted text and read on!

It may also add mood to your thread whether its happy,sad,exciting,jumpy or any emotion!

That's what it's there for right? Use it!

Note, adding color to short short posts defeats the purpose, color encourages readers to read more and not start snoring

Also add some variety to colors! Don't just stick with 1 color and go through a huge post with it, switch and swap! :)

Make the colors bright so it can stand out and easier to read!

 

b) Font

Font can also add variety to your piece of work!

They even have special jobs!

Bold - Is to emphasizes or to make it stand out

Italics - Tells that this is special (often used for quotes)

Underline - Realistically this is what you do to book titles but you can alter it and make its job emphasis or to show this thing corresponding to that or some kind of relation.

 

c) Size

The size is also special, once again it emphasizes and stands out, things or to hide small insults :lol:

Big Size - Mainly used for headings or titles.

Small Size - Makes readers look harder to read stuff that may be unnecessary or inappropriate (hehe) or doesn't support your main idea, side note, whatever.

 

Number 5. Humor!

Everybody loves a few jokes or funny stuff (Unless your a big grouch bag sitting on the couch complaining about everything like "This juice is to cold!" or "Move faster! Wheres my donut!")

This all depends on your creativity and imagination. Make your audience love you!

 

Number 6. Revise and Edit

Once your done with your post, make sure its understand able and expresses your opinion clearly. Edit out any mistakes that you don't want or need, this is also the part where you might want to add color, font size and other decorative stuff! :)

 

Number 7. Smileys

Everybody loves smileys! 8)

Smileys help express feeling and emotion making it clearer.

Not overdo them though! :-o

Overdoing them causes spam and does not really help your post much :shock:

I read the whole thing, it's very helpful and I agree with everything you mentioned :thumbup:

 

There are a few typos so I suggest you fix them, but aside from that, it's an amazing post.
