This is my guide to making Maps in google sketchup 8, it should work in other versions but it might not.

"quick note: when ever i say "use the push/pull tool to erase" i mean click on the side you want to get rid of and move it back until it is at the other end of the block/ramp/wall and then when you release it it it should dissapear)

1. starting

to start draw a square with the rectangle tool

then draw a line starting at the edge of the square and then draw another square using the line:

the repeat on the other side and continue until you have a grid:

2. ramps and blocks

use the push/pull tool to raise one of the blocks and then draw a square on the side:

then use the push/pull tool again to lower the pillar o the height of the square and either leave it like this if you want a block or if you want a ramp us the line toolto draw a diagonal line across the square:

then use the push/pull tool to get rid of the top half of the square and then draw these lines woth the automatic half way thingy on the line tool:

(you need to draw them in that order)

then erase all the lines apart from the diagonal one and then use the push/pull tool to get rid of the bottem part of the triangle:

if you want to you can also use the push/pull tool to make a walkway coming out of the end of the ramp:

3. walls

start by drawing 4 line using the half way thingy again:

then erase the first three lines and raise the smaller rectangle to the height of the top of the ramp. and then paint it using this paint:

17595512.jpg

(you dont have to use that one but i think it looks the best)

if you want to make one of the falling down walls which you can shoot throught then first make a grid on the side:

76313519.jpg

and then draw lines going about diagonal down toward the middle from both sides:

54419174.jpg

(you dont have to copy that exactly)

then erase the grid lines and use the push/pull tool to erase the top part:

4. flag bases

to start again split the square into 4 "halves" and draw to circles as shown:

25091453.jpg

then erase all the lines apart from the circles and then raise the middle circle a bit like this:

82340016.jpg

then draw lines connecting the ends of the lines making up the top circle to the ends of the lines making the bottom circle:

96350733.jpg

then colour it all blue/red and you should end up with this:

25849017.jpg

thats all for now i might add more later.
