Question about the world ending

I saw this show and they think the world is going to end this year which i thought is crazy because no one know's when the world is going to end. "But they say this guy had made crazy predictions and they came true" i don't know about that but my friends were telling me about this guy.

The theory is based on a movie, 2012, which assumes that because the Mayan calendar ended in 2012, so would the world. Anyway, I don't believe this is true; but, it's your choice whether to believe or not, just like with everything else.
