Short Story N°1!

It was a sunny afternoon, when Louise and her son and daughter decided to go to the amusement park. Louise usually hates amusement parks, but this time, her children were even willing not to eat in order to go there. And Louise, as a responsible mother,  knew that it meant a lot to children, so yea…

She took the car, drove to the amusement park with her children in the back, singing of joy.

When she got there, Louise started already having a headache, while parking the car under a tree, so the car is still fresh when coming back. She walked to the entrance, a child in each hand. "Alright…" She thought, "Let's do this".

Louise got off the roller-coaster and told her excited children that she had had enough. She wanted to relax and eat lunch. She sat down, ordered three meals, and turned back to pass napkins to her son and daughter, but they were gone!

She looked at the huge roller-coaster and was scared. Had they gone there?

Louise couldn’t believe her eyes when she looked at the rollercoaster, but didn’t see her children in it! She thought it would be the normal scenario for a thriller… She felt scared, and didn’t know what to do, while she was looking so stupid, standing in the middle of hundreds of people, looking around her like she lost something. Oh, wait… she did lose something!

Louise started running in a direction her instinct told her to go to. She stopped a bit and asked:

- “Excuse me, Madam, haven’t you seen a young blond girl and boy? Those are my children…”

- “Eee… Parla Italiano?”

Louise felt exhausted, but she knew that giving up wasn’t an option. She could hear the people screaming of fear in the rollercoaster, but decided to ignore the noise in case she would hear the terrified voice of her children… “There’s nothing worse than hearing your children’s horror scream…” she thought.

Then, she decided to go back to the restaurant. When she arrived, she saw some family, sitting at their table.

-“Excuse me, but this is my table!”

-“Oh…well, you must be wrong because we’re sitting here since a while already…”

-“Really…? I put my bag and my belongings on the chair!”

-“Sorry, but there was nothing when we arrived. Now, please…”

Louise was confused, she had lost her children, bag and belongings, and now she was there, feeling lost, thinking about where her children could be.

She turned back, and suddenly, she started having cold shivers in her back. She couldn’t breath anymore, she was paralyzed in front of what she saw. There were so many feelings invading her that in the end she didn’t feel anything. Except one, stupidity.

Her children were smiling at her, happy to see her back. When she saw her bag and her belongings on the chair next to her children, she understood that it was her fault. The children had not gone anywhere, she had. Simply because when coming back, after having ordered the meals, she went to the nearby table, next to the table where her children were. Then, thinking that her children had gone, she started running after them, to find them, after a long walk, 5 meters next to where she started. Maybe that’s called stupidity?

Seriously though.
