Rehaul of Pro Battle Pass- to calm the drug debate

If this topic is merged then its usless. This topic is not about drugs/drugging/druggers/supplies/anti-druggers/

Its about a solution to the argument mentioned above and to hopefully, working together as a forum, get an appealing solution to the developers.

This isnt a topic to throw randomn ideas or to discuss drugs "drugs-the only strategy to win a battle" is for that.

this is to discuss one idea and to tweak it.

The idea:

One of the many options the pro pass gives players is the abbillity to create battles with out supplies (with or without drop boxes). With out disabling this option of supplies druggers can roam free. Its a good escape for anti-druggers however not all anti-druggers can afford the 5k to take from upgrading their equipment. So.... why not have the druggers pay the 5k to join drug battles and let anti-druggers play freely. And join the pro pass in missions.

but remove the pro pass up till rank WO1 so that newbies can discover the amazing world of drugs.

 

Now lets discuss ways to tweak this.

My suggetion.

when you press the "create battle" button the regular right-hand bar will transform as normal. The battle specifications, however, of the default none-pro will be; friendly fire off, supplies off, smartcooldowns hidden becauase N/A, auto balance on, auto finish on, micro upgrades on, changing equipment on.

the variable options will stay the same as old none-pro; which map, what time limit, what battle mode, and pro.

once you click pro the bottom right will transform as usual and the options for pro will be available just that the supplies checkbox will automatically be checked

I don't that it will be implemented as druggers pay for drugs while others don't. So your suggestion would mean that even after buying drugs, one needs the pro pass to use them.

One more point, the limited or judicious use of drugs is not bad at all but interesting and fun.If this id implemented then the drugs we get from daily missions will be useless as we(non-buyers) wont use crys for using those free drugs.

I remember Hazel saying a few years ago (when the PRO pass was just a "no-supply battle pass"), that in normal battles you "pay" for playing by spending your supplies, while in supply-free battles you pay for entry and you save on supplies. So basically in normal battles the entry is free, but you are still kind of required to pay for it when you spend supplies to win and end up needing to buy more. 

 

The PRO battle pass is different because it also unlocks the extra features for 5000 crystals, so in that sense your idea actually makes sense. The problem is that battles without supplies are called PRO battles for a reason - a lot of good teamwork and coordination is required to capture a flag without supplies, so if all standard battles were without supplies, then most games would end in a 0-0 draw and people would get bored of it pretty quickly. Of course, this only applies to CTF and not the other game modes, but then again - CTF is the most popular game mode in the game.

 

Other than that I agree with this - make supplies an "extra" feature that gets unlocked along with the other PRO battle settings, so that players will be paying to play PRO battles not because they want to save on supplies that way, but because they want to participate in more exciting battles.

I like that you are trying to meet folks half way.  The only issue I see here is the marketing ans sales.

 

Start off, drug as much as you want.  Hit a certain rank, no more drugs.  The players that got to that rank using them will chafe under this duress and if they can't afford battle passes, or feel like there as a bait and switch, they'll leave.  I dunno, that's what I imagine, though I could also imagine a retooling of the presentation of Tanki, something like:

 

"Play till you're proficient . . . .then you get to play in the XYZ.  Here it's a whole new level, and drugging happens if you pay, otherwise it's all about you only."

 

It's a thought though, might be just strange enough that you're on to something.  It certainly is a purer game approach, that's for certain.

Very good idea, but why should it only occur past WO?

That's a little early to suddenly sucker-punch the ones that do rely on supplies for an advantage. (Wasps that use speed boost, Mammoths that use DA, etc.)

 

Also, just coming from the perspective of a person who's dealt with DLC and microtransactions, the same "Why should we pay to avoid supplies." can be applied here.

Because i personally thought i was a good rank at WO1. I dont want to take away the Wo1's right to have a pro pass. However the unlock rank is flexible. (I was drugger for my wo ranks)

Maybe (if I understood correctly your idea) it could be done like half way between your idea and the actual situation. I explain:

 

Free users:

Options to choose:

          1 - normal battles as they are now

          2 - drug-free battles (supplies OFF option)

 

PRO pass users:

Allows to choose any options from drug free to drug war (SCD OFF) ... and format battles and everything else already present now and better described by A_R_A_K_E_L_Y_E_N.

 

 

In this way the "free" users will be able to choose from drug-free and normal battles (drugs allowed with SCD), while PRO pass users can choose any option.

 

 

What do you think? It may be an intermediate solution that could satisfy druggers, non druggers and Tanki.

It would also be easy to implement, as only "drug-free" option should be added when create a free (non PRO pass) battle.

 

 

Just a note: I think this is still a remedy, not a real solution. I don't necessarily want drugs to be removed, but just reworked and nerfed. Yet this remedy could satisfy all players, so it might work.

I know your position and you already said this ... yet I don't think it should be the right driving concept of a game like Tanki!
 
You say that you MUST drug in battle and with no drugs you don't win. You also say that you need skills to play drug-free, which in turn means you can be a newbie to win with drugs.
 
This is just a note, not a criticism. You are coherent with what you said many times. I just underline it because I think it is bad that a player can win only (or mostly) by drugging.
 
I think about all the pages and pages about techniques, teamwork, discussion on hull/turrets/paints, the V-LOG pro advices ... all that just go to the dogs by pressing numbers!
"It does not matter which hull/turret/paint you have, just drug and you can win" ... this is the message! And IMO it is not the right idea.
 
On this discussion, I also think it could be a good idea.

this is also an idea..... possibly better however it creates a distinct seperation which can be a disasvsntage in the eyes of devs

Because i personally thought i was a good rank at WO1. I dont want to take away the Wo1's right to have a pro pass. However the unlock rank is flexible. (I was drugger for my wo ranks)

Okay then. :3

Can't argue with that. That's about when it started to be a big problem for me.
