What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
FogOfWar_XXX replied to Maf in Game Discussion
There is also the issue the older Legends DON'T want to play Tanki as it exists now. I won't by a hovering hull, I use drugs on occasion, Tesla turret will never get used in my garage. A lot of Legends play because they're invested, but the new dog won't hunt in their world. 0/32, hey if you refuse to use drones and just have an Mk1 Brutus, so be it. There more of us than people think. I use drones, but only because had to spend my crystals on something. I have grenades, don't use them. Magic augs like bezerker and that dumb "angel" one that just saves a Tanki from a killing hit, non-starter in my garage. We keep playing and then dweebs who have raced up the ranks complain about Legends that "have no business playing of holding the rank". Sorry Johhny come lately, you're the outsider. Don't like it, kick rocks. We were here first. -
I looked on Q 2 Devs and this was not moved there. You need to move it to that forum still.

Same btw, I've noticed this. Sniping is 178, 192, etc, double damage arcade, 1800. It makes no sense AND... AND... It's not always consistent. It's not like the same target always returns the same result. It's not an aug or something that I can tell. I'll get smashed like 4 times by an opponent coming at me while in snipe mode, then the 5th time, they zoom around a corner and boom, 3675 damage in snipe.

Because shafts are being incrementally edged out of Tanki. Look at the maps. Range is becoming removed from Tanki, over and over. Long range maps are being constantly nerfed. The new maps and everything they do on redos is to allow medium range and melee units to easily traverse without fear of long range units, especially shafts. Hazel took over dev years ago, and ever since, it has been turned into a brawl. Ask why. It's simple. Drugs. Supplies are the bane of Tanki. Rather than creating other money earning opportunities, they turned the game into an addicts paradise. You have to get close to really be effective, AND damage and health are so tweaked now that without using supplies, you'll barely get by 30 seconds in an engagement. Shafts were great ways to keep druggers in check. They kept hard charging brutes from getting around maps with impunity. So, damage nerfed, reload nerfed, site radius in scope narrowed (effectively nerfed, keeps campers from effective over watch of a wider area. It was never to make precise shots). Why can Magnums move and fire but shafts cannot? Same. If they could, they'd get rid of shafts. Too many players dumped tons of money into them to just nix them. This was the biggest thread in the forums for years. People spent countless hours talking about effective game play, how to counter in close fighters, etc. Nothing now. there is a reason for that. Tanki is no longer, in any way, any fashion, the great game it once was. It is now a ceaseless drug addled knock down drag them out. No real strategy, no real sense of a fight, just who has "more buff drone" with drugs. Don't even bother asking why anymore about anything related to shaft. Love the game play, try hard, ignoree everyone else, and know that when you play shaft, you're on your own, always, even on a team.

I couldn't even say 24 hours. I know they appeared for a few hours after the trick or treat game was over, then I came back 24 hours later and they were gone. Maybe it was an error. Oh well, thought I had been amassing a little stash of super valuable cookies for something, oh well, I can dream I guess.

Ginger Bread men in November

So right after the Trick or Treat event, I was playing and I was seeing gingerbread men being awarded for missions. It was just one day. I wondered if it was like pre-holidy event thing. Went looking around for it on the forums, found nothing. Check my account later for a place that might tell me how many of the little guys I gathered, but nothing. Was this a mistake on the developers part or was there some sort of super duper secret event that you had to be in the know" about or something? Do I have a super secret stash of gingerbread men that I don't even know about that I can cash in later when I get surprised? -
I think it was the same one that added the laser, though it could have been shortly after the laser. It has been this way now for a very long time. I think it's ridiculous too.

update Patch Update #744 - Released 10th November 2023
FogOfWar_XXX replied to Marcus in News Archive
You are forever cast into the lot of the "wrong". Shafts belong to Tanki purists, not the defiled and low born spawn of current Tanki. I am pleased to report that the change in physics and the dynamics of the hulls have made them FAR BETTER BAIT for Shafts now. I think Tanki should create a pro bttle format with no Freeze, Rico, Twins, Isida, Magnum (Artillery should have to be stationary to fire, hell, shafts have to be), and Tesla, along with no floating hulls. Only realistic tech, and for heavens sake, no grenades, what is the point people, I mean really. People can select drug free or not, I know that's such a hard sell for most players now, they couldn't play Tanki without them, but yeah, a realistic physics and tech battle environment. It would be great, yeah. Oh, wait, that'll never happen. If we're lucky the decrease in usage of hovers because of the patch will return the game to something resembling what Tanki was at its greatest, as some players can't be bothered to strafe and deal with the reduced agility. -
I played last night and if anything, patch update seems to have given given back to tanks. I did much better than I have in a long time (yeah yeah, I don’t drug, so if you saw me and I was third to last, that’s the difference of before and after, but I digress) I think this might have had something to do with it, I even took third in a battle last night, unheard of now for me. anyone else notice shaft play doing better since the patch?

In the words of a great man, ”Free at last, free at last, God almighty, free at last.” if those hulls fall out of favor, Tanki might be Tanki again. This game lost all the dynamics of armored tanks combat the moment we got jumping and strafing tanks. THANK YOU TANKI! -
Well, the time it took to get a reply, not that I was awaiting one, speaks volumes. Shafts are like the archetype of all that WAS good about Tanki and ruined. I was playing g yesterday on the Halloween map just for missions, and I couldn’t help but notice the drone usage. It’s like all crisis all the time. Heal ups too. I can literally full charge a wasp now and not kill it. Light hulls aren’t supposed to with stand a full charge from a shaft, drugs or not. What really makes me mad are the floaters (yes, allusion to the term referencing what you find in toilets is not a coincidence). Shafts lowering themselves to hover tank game play. Shaft and Smokey are the last two turrets in Tanki with any dignity, and someone has to make a Frankenstein. They don’t turn their turrets, they just float side to side while in zoom and use shaft while moving . Does no one have even an ounce of decency any more. We all know floating hover hulls should not be in the game, but if you’re going to use them, at least use them with all the other ridiculous turrets like twins. Don’t stain the image of Shafts by using your crisis drug induced stupor with a stupid hull. *ards running around without turning their turret. My plea to tanki: don’t let shafts connect to floating hulls, show some self respect (the little that remains, if any.)

God it’s quiet in here. They have “tankedkeyed” this game with all their drugs and drones. I’m done complaining but once in while I have grumble. Nuance was everything once. Clever use of combinations of turrets and terrain. Hopping bs and Rico’s that shoot the length of the map now. It’s ridiculous. Throw in crisis drones and your left with something that no longer resembles armored vehicle combat. I want to hear anyone who can say this even feels marginally satisfying to play anymore. I have to bust tail with my my”8” just to break even on k/d, and that’s if I’m not playing against buyers. I’ve come out battles with one kill in 15 minutes. the only thing remotely satisfying about game play with shaft any more is picking off hoppers. Camp at an angle to a position they consistent ly hop at right before taking a flag and fry them as they get beat up on the way in, smug in their hop, and then chopping legs right out from under them. Of course you do it three times and then they spend the rest of the game hunting you calling you a worthless camper. Worth it though, they ruined game, might as well ruin their fun.

Been done. Here, look at this, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AWgPaQb0Zow

Just an observation, Shafts appear more lately than before. Most on Ares and Hoppers, a few on Viking. The days of all Shafts on Mammoths are gone, but you still see those too, albeit less. I assume that floating hulls are preferred simply because they can coast and move while in scope. I find those hulls ridiculous and should never had been added, but that's not a conversation for here. The point is Shaft is finding some love again. Now the bad part. In order for them to excel in battle though, they now rely HEAVILY on drugs. They're deadly aspect has been much removed. No more are the simple one shots on medium hulls, hell, even light hulls. I know, I play drug free and full charge heavy caps with some light hull drone and module combinations make my hits laughable against them, damage under a 1000. With drugs though, while NOT back to full power, they seem to take on more activity on the battle field. Shafts really can only support, are a strange hold over now and that's their role, no doubt, but there is a steep price to pay to be marginally effective and useful. Anyone have any thoughts on why Shafts are seen a little more than before?

Ziggurat Large classic style middle eastern Ziggurat with inner chambers, passages, and surrounding multi-level navigable mountain landscape. With three levels and multiple paths to each, this maps is fast and aggressive. The numerous approaches and exits also provide all styles of game play an opportunity to contribute to the teams success. Ranged turrets especially will have a large impact on game play on this map.
