Vectors

Life, despite its various hardships, deserves to be admired. The joy, the sorrow, the pain and the peace of life are what shape us into our current selves. How it is viewed, though, plays an essential role in this seemingly strenuous task.

In physics, we have various quantities. Some quantities, such as distance, speed, work and energy, are scalar- they have only magnitude; while others, such as displacement, velocity, acceleration and force, are vector- they have both magnitude and direction.

When we study the forces acting on a system, we give as much, and sometimes even more, importance to the direction of forces as compared to their respective magnitudes. Any sportsperson, however unversed, would admit that direction plays an important role in any sport, be it cricket, badminton or football. A boundary hit by a batsman is not just any hard swing, but a detailed manipulation of where it is hit. The placement of a smash is more vital than its power. Aiming is the key to a successful goal.

If I had to say that life's a game, I would say it's a game of vectors. Various values transform our lives. Wisdom, skill, knowledge, perseverance, are just a few. We often look up to those whom we consider geniuses and believe that their achievements are due to the enormity of these values present in them and often overlook how they were channeled into utility.

You might be wondering what there is to gain from the views of just another person among the billions on this planet. People continuously preach the lessons of life to others and themselves tend to seek name, fame and wealth. To be honest, there is nothing to be learnt. All values come from personal experience.

So what exactly is the purpose of the lessons of life that are taught? They aim to divert your attention from the finishing line of this meaningless race of life. Then only will you be able to admire the beauty that surrounds and dwells inside you. To break your run and make you glance around.

We only tend to observe the ugliness of life. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. There is a need to direct our vision. Beauty is thus, a vector; and so, is life.

Thank you for reading! This was my first time writing such an article. Be sure to comment what I missed out on!
