Your favorite change from update 220 and least favorite.
Fjelstad1678 replied to doughnut2100 in Archive
I can't really think of anything bad about this update. The maps that I would play on most that got changed were Silence (Like everyone else), Kungur, and maybe Brest. The Brest that they chose to base the single one off of is the one I liked more, so couldn't be happier with that. Love the new Kungur, as someone else said the new line of bushes behind the village flag is great and the entire new back route for flanking attempts. Silence, love the changes too. New ways to get from base to base, and the whole catwalk behind the lower base is great. The sniping position from the higher base was also greatly improved and I love that as well. All in all, really like the update. -
Yes! Please note that the 'z', 'x', and 'c' keys turn the turret! So many people at high ranks still don't use their turret and it drives me mad! :D

I dream, as everyone does (and everyone does every night, it has been proven) but only very, VERY rarely do I ever remember them.

Get whatever I needed at that time, a decent place to live (Nothing too fancy), pay off everything, keeps some for the bills, and then use the rest to invest in precious metals. When I die, I will have whoever makes the arrangements with my will get the money from all of the metals, split it in half, give equal chunks of one half the money to any heirs to my name, and give the other half to charity.

Do you expect to see World War Three in your lifetime?
Fjelstad1678 replied to shadewarttt in Archive
As for that I meant more in general. No big wars. It seems that (especially in the case of the United States) major countries are beginning to withdraw from those smaller scale conflicts. Of course there will always be extremists, but in my opinion, I think less major war will be caused by it because of what I said, governments are maturing world-wide. -
Now that some people have done this, I am going to have a go at it. No, I have no idea what anything is, this will seriously be my first time.

Fully agree with this. The major powers have started to become equals. Conflicts between them are growing less constantly. Not to say that they are all buddy buddy, but there is certainly less tension between the United States and Russia than there was several decades ago. The main focus of conflict in present day is the Middle East and in other less-developed countries. Will there be another large scale war? I kinda doubt it. Things will start to settle down as these less developed countries mature and I think we are looking pretty peaceful in our lifetimes. -
Story [Issue 20] Birth of a Tank: "Breaking the Silence"

We're not really slow writers, we just publish once a month (for now). Anyways, I'm glad you liked it. :D -
Alright, the main argument I see here is "The game would turn into World of Tanks." No, no it wouldn't. Anyone arguing that the graphics would make Tanki into WoT has obviously never played or watched gameplay of WoT. It is a completely different game. The only similarity between the two is they both contain tanks. World of Tanks contains vehicles and prototypes from the early to mid 1900s. Tanki is a futuristic sci-fi game. These new graphics would simply make the tanks and environment around them look more life-like and less cartoon-ish. This won't make the game any more realistic (And I don't know why it would be "realistic like WoTs" either, because WoT's main competitor, WarThunder, if far more realistic with their upcoming ground forces.) but will simply make the game look kick-butt in my opinion. Second argument against the graphics I see is "It would make the game run slower." Actually... probably not significantly. At most, maybe a couple of frames slower. There is a reason they have an old rundown laptop at the Tanki HQ in Perm, and that is to optimize anything they release into the game so that it can still be run with acceptable frame rates on slow computers. Overall, I think that these newer graphics look pretty sweet.

Does the tanki world look better than the real world?
Fjelstad1678 replied to shadewarttt in Archive
I do believe we have reached a verdict. -
Gaming: Fail teams (After about 3 in a row on WoTs, I am ready to flip a table.) Internet: People who lack brains and/or cannot use proper grammar let alone spell. (I am talking native English speakers. You who have it as a second language are okay. :P) Real life: Again, people who lack brains. In conclusion, large amounts of stupidity tends to anger me.

I don't follow football. Just don't find it as interesting as other things such as Rugby, American Football, or Hockey.

Story [Issue 20] Birth of a Tank: "Breaking the Silence"
Fjelstad1678 replied to Fjelstad1678 in [Issue 20] Birth of a Tank: "Breaking the Silence" Newspaper Archive
Birth of a Tank: "Breaking the Silence" When we finally arrived back at the camp, I immediately started asking Darrel and Easton about everything in the surrounding area that we could possibly use as a tactical advantage. “Well, its been a while since I have studied proper combat tactics, but it seems like those buildings we were next to at the extent of our patrol would make a great choke point. There is a back route not far from here, but it could easily be defended by a single Freeze.” Darrel said in a quick summary. “Alright. Rachel, how are you doing on getting some support here?” I asked. “The higher-ups don’t seem to believe it. We may actually have to do a lot of this by ourselves until they grow a brain and realize what is actually going on.” “Dang. So, which one of you two is the leader here?” I asked the two nervous Hunters. “Well…” Easton started with a crack in his voice. “... we really weren’t sent here to fight, and we really don’t have a leader. We kinda figured you were going to be the new leader.” “Me? Don’t make me laugh. I haven’t even fired a shot in anger yet. Now you expect me to lead you into a full scale battle where we are severely outnumbered? That would never end well.” I said “This is true.” Darrel popped in. “However, does it look like we have either? Besides, we have heard about your model. Specially designed to be a commanding unit. You are the best one here for the role, and we will only do what you say.” “Fine! I will be the leader. I just wish we could get some support…” Almost as if by que, Rachel let out a huge sigh and gave me the news. “I’ve convinced some of the higher-ups that something is going on here. We will be getting a little backup. We’ve got a Shaft and a Freeze coming soon to help.” I relayed the message to Easton and Darrel to get a decent amount of relief. “Well, lets not all just sit around… There is an enemy tank column rolling this way. We should start preparing plans while we wait for support to arrive.” After very little discussion, we decided to go mainly off of what Darrel had suggested earlier. We would place the Freeze on the back route to guard our flank as the Smokies and I held the choke point at the buildings. The Shaft would be placed on a heavily covered platform to the rear that he could easily snipe on both our and the Freeze’s positions from. He could also retreat back to the main base from it quite easily with the help of cover from some large piping in case of emergency. “They should be here any minute.” Rachel chimed in. “Alright you two, be ready for their arrival. Please act calm, as this defensive is going to be very serious. Now, Easton, if you could please take a quick recon mission and report back on the enemy’s current position, it would help.” I told Easton and Darrel who had been staring at me intently for the entire time I had described the plan. “Yessir.” Easton chanted back. “Great.” “Yes, that would probably be a good idea…” said a deep voice behind me. Darrel started backing up very slowly as I turned my turret to face the unknown figure behind me. “Heh, your little friend there seems like he might need his oil changed.” the new tank chuckled. As I glanced over him, I identified him to be a Tank-I Shaft on a Viking. Being a more recent model, it is also known as a ‘Viking Long Sword’. Behind him was another tank, a Freeze on Dictator. Being an older vehicle, it has no other name. “Nice to see you two showed up.” I said. “Yeah, yeah, now just tell us what is going on, we’ll help, and then be back to the REAL war.” the Freeze said, sounding already quite bored with the situation. I told them exactly what the predicament was and what they were to do. “Doesn’t sound too bad. What are we up against exactly?” the Shaft asked. Just as he said this, he got his answer as Easton came rolling back at full speed. “Nearly here, sir! Nearly took a shot when I pulled around the corner to take a look. At least 15 of ‘em! They’ll be here in no more than 5 minutes at their current clip.” “Right, you two! Take your positions. Feel free to give me a chirp on the radio if you need support, especially you Freezy.” I ordered. “See you on the other side.” the Shaft called as they rolled towards their stations. “Alright, you two, follow me. Please, don’t get shot up. If you get knocked out, you come all the way back here to base and have to drive all the way back out to the choke point to support whoever is still here. Remember that if we knock them out, they are going all the way back to their base, and it would be a waste to come back here. So, all we need to do is knock each one out once, and it should be a successful day.” As we arrived at the defensive positions for the soon-to-be killzone, we could hear a rumble from a short distance away. “You two stay back, I am going to poke the corner to see what we have coming.” I told the smokies who were glued to their cover. They nodded with their guns and I proceeded forward. When I poked the corner, it took less than 2 seconds to take a fairly large hit to the side. I very quickly glanced at the small army of tanks as I pulled back around the corner and headed back. “Be careful!” Rachel pleaded. “You know they aren’t going to make this easy on you! Just… please win the fight.” Had her voice always sounded this soothing? Maybe it was just the situation I was facing. I snapped out of it and realized I had to tell the others what I had seen. I cracked on my radio. “Alright. First round of the fight has officially and rather violently met its target. There are at least 2 dozen of them, and I saw at least 5 going ‘round to the back route.” “Roger that.” the Freeze called. “I hear them coming up.” “You think you can take ‘em?” I quickly asked. “Yeah, never had trouble with any less than 8 before.” he said with a decent amount of concern detectable from his voice. Suddenly, an enemy tank appeared from behind one of sides of the gap. Before I could even react, there was a chirp and the enemy was a burning wreck. “First blood…” the Shaft mumbled. Before I could even comprehend how much he had just done in an instant, the next couple tanks were rounding the corner. I shot a round directly underneath the front tank, blowing both of it’s tracks apart with the shrapnel. Being immobile, it began serving as a roadblock for it’s allies trying to round the corner. “Gonna start helping us out, Smokies?” the Shaft asked as I blew straight through the lower frontal plate of an enemy Titan. I hadn’t even realized that neither Darrel or Easton had fired a single shot so far. “C’mon, guys. Your rate of fire is amazing and with two of you, you will annihilate these enemies. You can even use me as a meat shield if you need to.” As another enemy tank burst into flames as a chirp echoed overhead, I heard Easton creep out from behind cover and take a shot. The round flew straight into the tracks of a vehicle rushing straight towards me. As the tracks locked up on the damaged side, it’s pure momentum turned the tank side on to my gun, which made quick work of it, planting one straight into the engine block. “Freeze, you doing alright?” I quickly asked, jamming a turret ring as I did so. “Getting kinda hot up here… One of you Smokies mind helping a bit?” the Freeze said back, with much strain in his voice. “Darrel, you’re on the correct side of the gap. Go help him out.” I ordered him. “Yes, sir.” he replied with a crack in his voice as he began roaring back to the base to help. “How many you got there, Freeze?” I asked. “Uhh, too many and too stressed to count. More than 5 for sure. Can you get your little buddy to hurry?” he said. I could almost sense true fear in his voice. I quickly realized how desperate the situation was. “Darrel, get there NOW. Shaft, please get some covering fire on him, I think Easton and I have got it covered here.” For a few minutes, the situation began to seem a little more under control. Meanwhile, my kill count was soaring. I began to find that blowing apart the tracks of the first tank of line, causing a blockade, and then lobbing my High-Explosive shells into the group of tanks proved very effective. The blast would damage all tanks near the explosion, not always for damage to the hull of the machine itself, but blowing apart things like the tracks, guns, and engines, rendering them mostly useless. My tracks had been almost vaporized by this point, but I didn’t need them. My armor was holding up. “How is the situation on the back road?” I asked as Easton got his 5th ever kill. He was starting to get into this. “Better than it was…” the Freeze answered. “Both me and Darrel have been knocked out once though. Darrel fought well when I was gone. Really a true he… wait.” “What is it?” I asked. “We’ve got a Mammoth rolling up the ramp. Shaft, keep him pinned. I’ll freeze him up.” Freeze suggested. “Sorry, I’m pretty much useless at the moment.” the Shaft popped in. “My turret is jammed up pretty well. Trying to get it fixed, but its not budging.” “Well, is there another gun I can get down here? I’m gonna need it.” Freeze asked. “I’m stuck here until its all over. But I suppose you can borrow Easton.” I said. “Just please get him back soon enough. Really work on that turret ring, Shaft. I think I might need you soon. If they have a Mammoth over there, I bet there will be one on this side too.” “Trying sir. Will let you know when it happens.” the Shaft said as Easton quickly darted across the killzone to head back to support. The tip of my barrel was red. I was firing as soon as the rounds were loaded. My kill count was approaching 37, with 8 more critically damaged. I was really getting surprised at how easily we were defending the base. We had only suffered 2 ‘casualties’ and some critical damage, while we must have hit at least 75 kills total at this point. I was beginning to wonder how long this was going to last. “How are we looking, Rachel?” I asked her. “Tracks are gone, frontal plate is caving in, turret ring is damaged, and you have taken some engine damage on top of it all. Not really like you would need it anyways without any tracks.” “Ah, simply a scratch.” I joked. Suddenly, my tank jolted a fair amount as my left side began to sting. “OUCH. What hit me?” I asked her with some tension in my voice. “Shoot, its a Railgun, and to make matters worse, its a Mammoth. I would suggest that now would be a great time to call for help.” “Shaft, you up yet?” I called. “I’ve got myself a friend thats beating me up pretty bad. Need help NOW.” “Just fixed, coming.” he called back. Another beam hit me with just as much force. It seemed to sting twice as much. I was planting everything I had into it, but the damage it did just didn’t seem like it was going down first. “Here! Oh my… Lining up!” the Shaft yelled. I planted another shot into the Railgun. It’s barrel began glowing as it turned the turret back to line up the shot. “FIRE NOW!” I yelled. I could hear Rachel biting her fist to stop from screaming. The beam from the Rail came straight towards me just as I saw the flash of the Shaft’s round pierce it. It was too late. There was a loud hiss and everything went black. -To Be Continued- ~Fjelstad1678~ -
Story [Issue 20] The Great Comeback: "Flaw"
Fjelstad1678 replied to Fjelstad1678 in [Issue 20] The Great Comeback: "Flaw" Newspaper Archive
The Great Comeback: "The Flaw" The last few days had flown by. Benny, Terry, and I were up early every morning for testing, and usually were in bed late dead tired and reeking of sweat and oil. Idler was mainly having us test the Railgun on all of the different hulls. So far, we had tested the Titan, Viking, and Dictator. All the difference I could tell from my scope was the slight differences in speed while Terry was bellowing commands to Benny. Something just didn’t seem right though… “I wonder….” I thought outloud in my bunk as we all were going to sleep for the 5th time since we had arrived. “What?” asked Benny. “Well, don’t you just find it a little odd that we are actually getting away with something like this in an as good as enemy occupied country?” “Idler said that the protection here is insane, yet mind-blowingly subtle. The Germans might not suspect anything at all.” Terry chimed in. “Sure, but what if they do…” I said back. “What if they are fully aware of this and are… letting us do this?” It was quiet for a moment. “Well, then we better know how to use ‘em.” Benny said in a calm voice. “Lets just get some sleep and keep working. I’m sure it's all perfectly fine and nobody knows anything.” We decided he was right and were all out in the matter of seconds. The next day, the Russian soldiers woke us up and brought us back to Idler, a routine that was growing familiar. “Aha! There you all are! Got something special for you lads today! Specifically you, Mr. Deadeye!” “Um, Deadeye, sir?” “Sorry! I was just looking at some data we have been crunching and have figured out that you really should have been the gunner on that M4 of yours. You have only missed one shot out of the some 87 you have fired so far. A good 40 of those have been on the move, too! You, Benny, have gotten far better at getting the tank around off-road, and you, Mr. Terry, have done an outstanding job at yelling at everybody! You three blokes are doing bloody amazing!” “Thank you, sir. Now, about that surprise?” I asked. “Ah, yes. I noted it was particularly for you, so you can probably guess what it is.” “Some sort of new gun, I would suppose.” “Not just a new gun. Probably the most powerful and accurate projectile weapon known to man. If you thought the Railgun was powerful, this might stun you. Oh yes, and as a reward for helping us we’ve actually taken the time to put a tea and coffee maker in this one for you chaps. Take it as a bonus.” “Well, seems like there is nothing it cannot do!” Benny said with a cheesy salesman grin. “Well, in our good mood while putting the coffee and tea maker in… we did deliver a pizza to some of our snipers with a low charge blank…” We stopped snickering at Benny for a second and stared at Idler. “They reported it was a little crisp around the edges, but tipped us for delivery speeds.” We started laughing again as we stepped in the elevator to the surface once again. “I keep forgetting to ask this, but how many weapons do you plan to make?” Terry asked as the lift began to rise. “Ah, simple. This is our last model. We now have at least one weapon for every circumstance we can possibly think of.” “So wait. How many guns have you fellas made?” I asked. “We’ve only ever heard of this new one, the Railgun, and the Smoky.” “We have made a total of 9, including the one you will be testing today, the ‘Shaft’. I’ll briefly describe the others, as we will have you train in them at a later date. First is the ‘Firebird’: a large flamethrower. Then we have the ‘Freeze’: the complete opposite of the Firebird which freezes the target as the name would suggest. We have a couple of plasma weapons as well, starting with the ‘Twins’: a dual barreled plasma weapon that shoots plasma spheres from its dual barrels at a high rate of fire. The other plasma weapon is the ‘Ricochet’: a complicated weapon that shoots plasma balls that bounce off of everything except tank armour on which they explode. The ‘Smoky’ you already know of. The ‘Thunder’ is our other old fashioned gunpowder weapon: a larger and slower firing Smoky that fires High-Explosive ammunition that scatters large chunks of shrapnel that does lots of damage to nearby objects. You know about both the Railgun and the Shaft now. The final and most interesting gun we have made is called the ‘Isida’: a gun that can heal your allies and damage your enemies using nanobots.” “Wow.” is the only word any of us could get out. That was really an impressive arsenal. It was also the only word any of us could spit out as we saw the Shaft mounted nicely on the prototype Viking. The thing looked evil. I could imagine pointing it even in the general direction of any Axis soldier who would instantly and involuntarily mess their pants. “Pretty nice, eh? Been working on this beauty for a while now. Feel free to get in and take a look around. I have a feeling this going to be one of, if not the best model we have made. I’ll explain more once you get yourself situated.” Despite how large the turret was, it was rather cozy inside. The large chamber that would normally be a breach that I could only assume charged and held the projectile until firing was quite large and took up at least half the space in the turret and separated it into 2 halfs. I could not see Terry from my station on the right side of the turret and it would have been incredibly difficult to do so at all. I could only assume Terry’s feet lined up with Benny’s shoulders to help direct him through the battlefield. “Right, you chaps in position?” Idler’s familiar voice crackled through the radio. “Benny, Eric, and myself, all in position sir.” Terry said back. “Right. Terry, all your equipment should be familiar and obviously for you Benny since you have driven this machine before. You might need to look things over though, Lieutenant Eric. The light just above your scope will glow green when the gun is ready to be charged once Benny starts her up. At that point, you are going to want to press the red button on top of your control stick. The light will turn yellow when the gun is charged and the excess in energy allowed us to make some improvements to your scope. When your gun is charging, you may zoom the scope and fine tune the accuracy as much as you may need. When you have the shot lined up, simply pull the large red trigger on the front of the control stick as always. You should hear a quick and sharp chirp from the gun rather than a blast, and your shot is away at practically the speed of light. Because of the round velocity, you will require no lead whatsoever, just to let you know. Oh yes! In case of emergencies, you may also fire the gun uncharged, however the pure damage you can do and the armor piercing power of the round is incredibly underwhelming and I don’t recommend it.” “Thats an awful lot to take in at once but I’ll try.” I muttered as I looked over the surprisingly simple control layout. “Let’s get her started!” Benny called. No more than half a second later, the large engine roared to life and the metal beast began creeping forwards as Idler led Terry to the target range. “Right up in that bush, Terry.” Idler finally said after a fairly long trip. “How far have we gone? Are we even still in the testing grounds?” I asked. “On the very outskirts, but yes. This is very much a long range weapon, and we are going to test it as such. Now, Terry, there is a pair of binocular telescopes to your right, you are probably going to have to poke out of the commanding hatch to spot targets in this tank.” Idler informed. Terry groaned as I heard him open the hatch. About 45 seconds later he called back in. “Two M3 Stuarts coming in at 3 ‘o clock towards us, lined up.” The turret groaned as I turned it to face 3 and looked through my small viewfinder to spot the small dots in the distance. I used the range-finding system in the tank to find out in short order that they were over 5 kilometers away, a distance not even a Tiger would engage at! “Are you sure they are close enough?” “No doubt in my mind” Idler assured me. “Make sure to line up the shot so one tank is directly in front of the other.” “Will do, sir.” I said as I looked through the scope and pressed the red charging button. The scope quickly started zooming in on the Stuarts until I could see quite fine details such as a chip in the paint. I lined up the shot just as the light turned yellow. “Fire!” yelled Terry. “On the way!” I shouted back as I ripped back on the trigger. There was a loud chirp like Idler described as the entire tank jumped backwards a small distance. When I looked back through the scope, I saw two burning Stuarts with a clean hole cut straight through them. I could tell Benny had stuck his head up through the drivers hatch when I heard him call out: “That was outstanding! Complete overkill!” “Nice shooting, cowboy!” Terry called. “You all better get your heads back in the tank, we aren’t done testing yet!” No sooner had I heard Terry’s commanding hatch slam shut did I hear a loud crack and insane metallic ring as the tank vibrated like crazy. “WHAT WAS THAT!?” Benny yelled. “Is something wrong out there?” Idler called over the radio. “Checking…” Terry called in a calm but stern voice. “We appear to have taken a fairly large hit on our upper frontal plate. “But, we didn’t set up anything to fire back…” Idler said with concern. He paused. Then, very quietly, he asked the question. “About how large does the system say the impact point was?” I could hear Terry pressing buttons and muttering. He suddenly stopped. “It couldn’t be…” Idler whispered. “What!? What is it!?” Benny called. I closed my eyes as I realized what was happening. “The projectile was around 85 to 90 millimeters, sir. I greatly suggest we find some solid cover.” Terry said with a crack in his voice. “Agreed. Well, this changes things…” Idler said said slowly. How incredibly right he was. The Germans had found us. ~To Be Continued~ ~Fjelstad1678~ -

Okay, so... I am I guess what you would consider semi-famous just because of my position. However, believe it or not, I was partially known a decent while back when this forum had about 3 less inches of dust on it. All I did was post in topics and did a bit of mild *clean* trolling. Nothing really nasty, just a little fun. Getting people to chuckle usually makes you a bit more memorable, but don't ever overdo it, or you will be infamous, and that is not usually a good thing.

I remember getting one of those little Battleship game pegs stuck up my nose a LONG time ago. Don't ask, I don't know. Pretty sure it was a red one if you were interested.

I vote mediums. Lights just tend to be a bit too weak for my liking (unless of course I am using the mainstream Hornet-Isida and self heal), and I feel things such as the Viking or Hunter (or the Dictator if you can manage such awkward turret placement for slightly better stats) are a lot more versatile than both Heavies and Lights because unlike a Heavy, they can get somewhere semi-fast, and can then take more of a beating than a Light once they get there. I really think of them as more of a Jack-of-all-trades than the other two. Not saying the other two are bad, Heavies can be great in a DM and lights do seem to have a charm for sneaking a flag and capping it before you even realize what happened.
