    [Issue 13] The Revolution - Part 2

The Revolution - Part 2 The Confrontation Part 1 I move as quickly as Mammoth will let me, and that is when I notice the little blue mine stuck to the plastic. “Ready?” I whisper to no one in particular, bracing myself for the confusion that awaits. The first explosion throws the fake tanks into the air to my delight. The rest of the rebels turn around in shock, and we take this opportunity to attack. I position myself in a camping spot with double power and annihilate the weaker tanks in the pack, letting the other members of my team take on the tougher ones. Mark leads them ahead, using Twins and Mammoth M3 to knock the rebels off balance. As he drives forward, the others try to merge into the left side of rebels’ pack, the lack of light making our different paint indistinguishable. “Intruders!” Mark shouts, pointing his turret towards the right of the rebels. As they turn in that direction, the two other members of our team begin firing aimlessly, in desperate attempt to cause confusion. Using Freeze and Firebird M3, they are able to destroy over five tanks at a time, rapidly decreasing the number of tanks. Mark turns away, overcome with laughter, but something catches his sight. He spots two tanks looking slightly suspicious of the sudden outbreak, one Railgun-Hornet M3 and a Wasp-Shaft M1. They look at Mark questioningly, and decide he is no good. The Railgun shoots as Mark turns his turret the opposite way, but my friend is not stupid. He shoots with his Twins as soon as the spark from the Rail appears, knocking the shot far away from target. Using up a double power, he throws the Rail onto his side before destroying him, completely forgetting about the Shaft. “MARK!” I yell, as I see a flash of yellow smash into the corner of his tank. I shoot at the Shaft, somehow destroying him with one shot. Mark turns to me. “I’ve just 10hp… I can’t fight,” he whispers. I look around sadly. “Find survivors and find health. There’ll be no point restoring Dusseldorf if there’s just us!” I try to joke. But Mark nods gravely and turns away, taking one last look at the rebels. Alone, I notice a Freeze-Hunter M2 watching me from afar. He does not move at all, so I ignore him. After studying me for another 45 seconds, he begins to draw nearer. “You are one of them!” he screeches. “You will be destroyed! I will destroy you!” I realise that he saw the previous events, heard my conversation with Mark and knows of our plan. I try to shoot him, but I miss terribly. I speed off, in attempt of finding a place to hide and then facing the Freeze when I am ready. As I pass the fallen banner, a small cry for help comes out from underneath it, and I see a young Wasp-Smoky M1, stranded in the havoc. I hesitate for a moment, wondering whether to help him or carry on running. The Freeze is still far away, but Mammoth is not exactly the fastest of tanks. The small voice cries out again, saying, “Please, will you help me?” My sympathy takes over and I retrieve him. “Come, quick!” I urge, desperate to escape. He follows me until I withdraw behind a building. “Come, it is safe!” I whisper. “Don’t worry!” “No…” squeals the Smoky, petrified. “Farid doesn’t like! Dark and scary!” I begin to get impatient. “Listen, either come with me or be destroyed. Do what you wish, but whichever way I’m staying here.” I realise the selfishness of my words as Farid becomes even more scared. “Please,” I beg finally. I peer out and see that the Freeze is heading directly for the Wasp. “Farid!” I scream, but I am far too late. The Freeze destroys him in less than two seconds, his tank flying high into the air, not to return again. I try not to be sad, blaming the boy for his own death. I focus my attention on the Freeze, who is approaching. I quickly lay down a mine, praying that in its haste the Freeze will run over it. “You.” The female voice, clearly belonging to the Smoky’s mother, gets louder as she draws nearer, but I can see no one. “It was you, you thoughtless, selfish, inconsiderate little…” “I’m sorry,” I plead, not wanting to hear the next word. “He was too scared, I –” BAM!!! The explosion of the mine automatically draws my attention to the Freeze, who is trying to reach me, but is too far away. I rotate my turret towards him and shoot. It misses, but splash and the mine’s damage is more than sufficient to destroy him. Turning back towards the voice, I notice that the mother and her husband are right in front of me. “Er, yes, er, he was so frightened, I tried to persuade him, but – I’m sorry,” I continue. “Have you no sympathy at all? And do not tell me you are sorry,” the mother weeps. Suddenly a look of horror crosses her face. I freeze on the spot as an M3 Railgun skewers them both, turning them into rust just like their son. I remain frozen, overcome with shock, but most of all, guilt. But I must persist. I travel along; watching closely for any last rebels, but my mind is too distracted. I try to convince myself that I did my best; however poor Farid’s mother’s words keep cropping up in my head… Have I really allowed a young tanker to die at my wheels? There are but two tanks left ahead of me, seeming oblivious to my presence. But as I creep closer, they turn around, revealing a sickeningly familiar Viking-Thunder M3, and Ricochet-Hornet M3, and I know for certain the chaos is only just reaching its climax. The Thunder draws nearer, until we are less than a metre apart. “You thought you could overpower this? Well, think again,” he teases. He shoots at the wall behind me with such force I momentarily lose my balance, yet a moment is just enough for the pair to open fire. I back up, using my last Double Armour and Double Power, as my health bar gradually decreases. I shoot twice at the Ricochet, reducing his health to zero. The Thunder furiously drugs too and rams up against me just as I shoot. I can but stare in dismay as my health is down to just 3hp. My mind races as the Thunder prepares to finish me off. “I surrender!” I scream. “Take me – and me alone.” “You surrender, is it?” the Ricochet smirks. “Giving up, just like you did in the Games? Well, there is no Kerri to save you again this time. It is too late now – no life shall be spared.” The reference to my failure representing Dusseldorf alongside Kerri beat me down completely. If it were not for her winning, I would have been considered as even more of an embarrassment than I am now. I do not resist and accept death as the Ricochet and Thunder home in, preparing the most brutal way for me to be destroyed, and – “There is no surrender.” The voice takes all three of us by surprise and the pair whips around to see Kerri, looking battered and beaten. “So,” the Thunder grins, “We have company. Hello Kerri, how nice to see you.” “There will be no surrender, Sir Nick the arrogant,” Kerri repeats. I can now see that she is being restrained merely by two Firebird-Hunter M2s. At his first name being exposed, the Thunder growls and shoots Kerri full-on. “Face each other. NOW!” he orders. I watch him fearfully as I move over towards him, my tracks rolling over a destroyed hull. “Shoot her,” Nick smirks. “Do the young lady some damage.” I wince, as not knowing Kerri’s health I could destroy her. Hesitating, I refuse. Nick glares at me savagely, with a cruel smile. “Shoot the girl now or I will destroy you. Your choice.” I curse silently to myself, I have no options. Either destroy or be destroyed. Defeated, I swivel my gun towards Kerri, imagining the grin on Nick’s face, raking in the power and total control. Then I shoot her. There is no smoke, meaning that Kerri is OK. I sigh in relief, but having damaged her I feel like I owe her even more. The Ricochet comes closer, ready for his share of the action. “Now, Kerri, I believe it is your turn to give us a helping hand in destroying little Darius. Think, he’s been a hindrance to you, and has even done you some damage. May as well return the favour, no?” he says. I look to Kerri worriedly, with 3hp, I am the most vulnerable. She turns away silently, towards the two tanks who appeared with her. They scuttle over to Nick, and whisper to him. I take the opportunity to apologise to Kerri, but she simply says “Don’t worry, Darius,” in an undecipherable tone. Nick laughs suddenly, and almost knocks over the Ricochet in his hurry towards us. He turns to Kerri. “Your little friends have given me an astounding idea,” he snarls malevolently. “We will insert mines into your turrets, so that when you shoot you will blow each other up, regardless of who shoots first.” I panic inside, however Kerri seems completely calm, as if being destroyed was natural to her. As Kerri’s invigilators insert the mine into my turret, they hiss a few words to me, few but clear – simple words but a vital meaning. “So, enemies, who will shoot first? Who will be to blame – in the afterlife?” Nick asks, while circling us. “Or should I pick? Wow… I’m spoilt for choice!” “I will do it, you pompous lord…” Kerri steps up, then sighs. “It has to be one of us, so I shall.” “Very well then,” Nick sighs, slightly disappointed. “You will shoot on 3… 2…” I remember the words of those invigilators, and then take one last look at Kerri before we are destroyed. “1…” Darkness.

OK yeah he's Muslim - but so what to what religion he is? Racism is racism no matter whether you're a Sikh or a Christian, so let's not get into what you think about Islam.
