Story [Issue 9] The Darkness Series: Part 1, The Awakening

Ariz paced across the room. He was in the highest tower in the whole empire, in the middle of his great tower. He looked across the room at the special stand they had made, and at the three Wizard Lords standing around it. They were the greatest wizards in the empire of all time, Darx the Destroyer, Azar the Almighty, and Rova the Reviver. He saw his great empire, stretched out before him from the mountains in the east to the ocean in the west, from the forest of the north to the marshes of the south. The whole lands were clothed in darkness, and dotted with shadowed cities. Orcs and other creatures were driving tanks all around. Most were building new tanks, or expanding the empire in some way. Soon he would be ready, to awaken The Fallen Warriors from their graves, deep under the mountain. All they needed was the Stone, and then the three Wizards would clean it, and it would be his forever. Ariz had nervously looked out the window every day, looking for Yimmy. Finally one day, one of his most loyal scouts, Aztac, burst into the room, towing Yimmy behind him. Aztac had found him unconscious in the forest. He had run out of tank fuel and had been attacked by a local tank tribe. They had confiscated the Stone. Ariz furiously ran to his tank, calling his Elite Guard with him. Ariz drove quickly through the trees in his sleek, black tank. His Elite Guard drove all around, all looking for one thing, mines. The tribe was known for its many mines, surrounding their fort. Suddenly, one of the tanks beside him exploding into a fireball. The rest of them drove as fast as they could, hoping not to be hit. Bullets flew all around them, exploding whatever they touched. A wildfire had risen, and flames were raging all over. Ariz took his two most loyal tankers, and they drove away from the others. Coming above a small rise, they saw Fort Tachamu spread out before them. Ariz told his sniper to take out their guards, and suddenly tanks were exploding inside the fort. One after one, they exploded, until there was none left. Ariz drove down the hill, with his guards following him. Shooting open the gates, they burst into the fort. They froze everyone they saw, and drove up to the palace. There was smoking tanks all over the place. They entered the palace, and found the Lord Timur inside. Demanding to get the Stone, they killed all the guards. The Lord told them that he had sold the Stone to a fellow tribe. Ariz ransacked the whole fort, without finding the Stone. The Lord said he had sold it to the Great City Aragel, in the far East. The city was known for it’s power, and it’s leader, King Rezel, who had the mightiest of tank warriors in history. Ariz knew that he had only one chance of beating him, he had to get Mizer the God to help him. Bringing the Lord with him as a prisoner, he returned home. He prepared a great building, and told his slaves to build the best tanks ever seen. He prepared everything possible, then invited Mizer to a feast. He had to impress him for any chance of help. Mizer agreed to help under one condition, that he didn’t destroy the city completely. Ariz, agreeing, wanted to attack right away. Mizer, who had much more wisdom, knew of a secret kingdom, hidden under the earth, who were allied with the city. First they would have to find that kingdom, and destroy it. After gathering all his best troops, Ariz started his expedition. The fate of the world lay now in his hands. -
Story [Issue 9] The Arcus Series: Part 2, The Preparation

Arcus awoke to the sound of chickens outside. For a moment he pondered where he was, before remembering everything. Arcus tried to get out of bed, but instead groaned out in pain, as he was sore all over. The wife of the junkyard owner, Alaya, came in and asked if he was okay, bringing him some food. She told him the military would come later in the day, and that his mother was here now. His mother came into the room, and they talked for awhile. Arcus would have to go into the military, as he was the only one who could pick up the stone, unless you had the Sack of Power, which belonged to the evil King Ariex. Somehow Yimmy had gotten a hold of the sack and was able to steal the stone. Being as tired as he was, Arcus soon fell back asleep. Arcus awoke to sirens wailing over the whole junkyard. The military and police forces were searching the whole place, looking for clues. After a few hours they gave up. They had only found a few footprints, and a sweater. They brought Arcus to the military HQ for questioning. They wanted details and descriptions. After hearing him through, they told him to get more sleep. Arcus was lead down a long hall, and finally entered a door at the end of the aisle. It was a small room, with a TV and a bed in the corner. Arcus lay down and fell asleep. Arcus awoke early, and got dressed. Going out in the hall, he saw everyone heading for the same building. Guessing that he also should go there, he followed them. Inside there was a meeting. The leaders of the military talked about how Arcus got the Stone, lost it and that now the military needed to build an elite force to get it back. Later in the day, they would have contests and choose ten tankers who would train with Arcus, and retrieve the Stone. The only problem was that they didn’t know where it was. They thought it would either be with Yimmy, who would keep it for himself in his hideout or it could also have been sold to one of their enemies, most likely Ariz the Dark. If it so had been sold to him, then they would have the fight of their lives, and most likely die, so they needed to build up their Army now. That evening the contests started. They included races, obstacle courses, and fighting. The next day, two Generals walked up to Arcus. They handed him a stack of papers, and told him to read them now. Arcus sat down on the nearest bench, and started reading. A few hours later, having finished reading he got up. He needed to find the rooms of the ten who were chosen, then together with them, they would start training. In the first room he found someone named Ariex. He continued on, until he had gathered all of them inside their new building, made especially for them. Their names were as following. Ariex, Fex, Wixet, Pots, Itgex, Hiz, Jos, Nuxer, Sarx and Fennex. They would accompany him until they had retrieved the Stone. The next day, they started their training. Since Arcus had never had any training, they would need to help him before expanding their own knowledge. First of all, they led him to the garage. They would start his training with the basic Hunter Smoky Modification 0. After showing him all the controls, and how to use them, They each got in their own tanks, and everyone went out into the battlefield. They would train in the beginners map, Sandbox DM. Arcus waited for the signal to start. When it went off, he quickly shot a bullet in the nearest tank he saw. The bullet barely scraped the other tank, so Arcus quickly shot another bullet. It hit Fex’s tank in the side, and a small explosion erupted. The tank turned around, aimed at Arcus and fired. The shot hit dead on, but Arcus tank was almost as good as new. They had only loaded special training bullets, which look like real ones, but doesn’t do any damage at all. Arcus continued fighting, slowly getting used to all the controls. After many days, Arcus had improved enough that he was allowed to use better weapons and hulls. He now had access to all the Modifications and tank combo's. He needed to train with every combo, to find his favorite. One day, Arcus decided that he wanted the continue his carrier with the hull Wasp and the gun Freeze, because then he could easily move throughout he battle field, and then escape quickly with the Stone. He would now undergo elite training, and one day they would fight. -
